Paris Hilton Update

Paris Hilton is a common household name. It is rare that you will find anyone that doesn't know Paris Hilton. Recently, Paris Hilton got into some troubles with the law. She was put in jail and treated like any other normal citizen.

Paris Hilton had a few of her friends start an online petition. The petition stated that she was much too valuable to society to be in a jail house. They petition was in hopes of getting Paris Hilton out of jail completely. As you can guess, it did not work.

Ms. Hilton received a 45 day jail sentence. This was finally reduced down to a mere 23 days for her. This was a great relief to Paris Hilton who believes that any jail time for her is absurd and ridiculous.

Why was she sentenced to jail? Paris Hilton has a drinking problem. She will not publically call herself and alcoholic. Yet, she has several drinking while under the influence convictions. Her most recent jail time was for violating her probation for drinking and driving. Many other people would be given much stricter and much longer sentences.

Paris Hilton will be put in a high profile section of the Century Regional Detention Center. This is a Los Angeles County jail facility. For one hour a day, she will be released from her prison cell. But she will not be roaming the streets freely to party and drive. She will be restricted to her section of the detention facility. While she is out for the hour she will be allowed to make phone calls, take showers and even watch television.

There has been much fan fare and talk about Paris having to go to jail like other normal people. There is even a t-shirt campaign for her release support. People are being encouraged to create t-shirts that advocate freeing Paris Hilton from jail.

While some think that it is hilarious that Paris Hilton is trying to get out of jail and be pardoned there are others that are absolutely outraged. Victims of drunk driving killers and accident causers are outraged that Paris Hilton would try to use her celebrity status to deny her problem. Not only that they cannot believe that she honestly lives in such a big bubble to think that a petition would work on her behalf. There is concern that this star needs to get counseling and help not only for her drinking problem but for her social and emotional problems too.

It is in the hands of the courts. But the 23 days reduction in sentence has many fans happy. It has many people opposed to Paris absolutely furious.
