Paris Hilton is taking Adderall for her ADD. She has had this condition since high school. Adderall is commonly called speed and is used to help her to focus on things.
She was not receiving all of her medications at the jail. As a result, she experienced severe panic attacks and was so debilitated at times that she could not push the panic button in her cell.
.Also, according to US Magazine, Paris Hilton is also suffering from an addiction to Xanax. Xanax (alprazolam tablets) is in a class of drugs called benzodiazeprines and can be very dangerous when it is removed via "cold turkey". Many people will feel their hearts racing in their chests as if they're going to explode. Also, others will feel that they're experiencing heart attacks, and will cry for no reason. Shaking occurs as if one is experiencing seizures.
Also according to TMZ, Hilton was depressed but not really crying and spending her time writing down her thoughts. She was also reported to be losing weight.
Hilton's lawyer, Richard Hutton, told TMZ that Hilton is "doing as well as she can" and getting "excellent medical care."
And it is no secret that when it comes to Paris, nothing comes cheap, and it seems she is upholding her reputation even behind bars.
TMZ has reported that the Hollywood Boulevard blonde is costing the Lynwood Correctional Facility $1,109.78 per day, whereas the average prisoner has a $99.64 daily debt. According to TMZ, Sheriff Baca states that Paris Hilton has "severe" medical problems and they were only getting worse.
Rev. Al Sharpton met with with the Sheriff of Los Angeles County, Lee Baca, who released Hilton to house arrest after three days in jail. The Rev. Al Sharpton stated that if Paris Hilton had been black or poor, she would not have been released to house arrest.
Also, according to TMZ, an e-mail has been sent to the Los Angeles Country Board of Supervisors complaining that money talks and regular folks stay locked up. Reportedly, the response to the letter was:
Thank you for your note regarding Paris Hilton. We have received thousands of e-mails from members of the public on this matter. Please know that the Board of Supervisors shares your concerns and has asked Sheriff Lee Baca to make a public report next Tuesday, June 19. The Sheriff has been asked to provide the reasons for the premature release of Paris Hilton from the Sheriff's Century Regional Detention Facility, including the reasons for not placing her in an appropriate medical facility such as the jail ward of the LAC+USC Medical Center. As you may know, the Sheriff is an elected official, so the Board of Supervisors has limited authority over that department."
According to Xanax.com, millions of Americans suffer from anxiety disorders, and many of these anxiety disorders are highly treatable with psychological counseling, medication, or a combination of the two. According to http://www.heartdrs.com, Xanax is a tranquilizer that is usually used for short-term relief of symptoms of anxiety and not for long term treatment of anxiety disorders. Xanax is also used in the treatment of panic disorder, which appears as unexpected panic attacks and may be accompanied by a fear of open spaces called agoraphobia. Anxiety associated with depression is also responsive to Xanax, but as stated above this is for short-term use only. Some doctors prescribe Xanax to treat alcohol withdrawal, fear of open spaces and strangers, depression, irritable bowel syndrome, and premenstrual syndrome
According to David Jossip, it's stated that Paris Hilton is on high doses of Xanax and Adderall. It's also stated that Paris Hilton feels dirty all the time and isn't at all impressed with the prison chefs.
Why another celebrity, namely Paris Hilton, is given medication so liberally should draw attention to the "Anna Nicole" Syndrome, the "Elvis Presley" Syndrome or even the "Marilyn Monroe" Syndrome. Celebrities can obtain very strong, addictive drugs at inappropriate doses and for inappropriate reasons. It will be interesting to find out how long Paris Hilton has been prescribed this medication, if this information is ever leaked out to the general public.
