Paris Hilton's Presidential Campaign Spoof: Funny or Die Has Another Hit

Maybe you've seen The Landlord, the hilarious video that features toddler Pearl as an alcoholic landlord who verbally abuses tenant Will Ferrell and demands he pay his rent in between stumbling around in a "drunken" stupor.

But since the release of that video, which had received over 50 million views by the end of 2007, Will Ferrell's video website "Funny or Die" hasn't had a bona fide "hit."

Enter Paris Hilton.

After being featured in a John McCain campaign ad that attempts to compare Democratic hopeful Barack Obama to celebrities like Britney Spears and Paris Hilton, Hilton responded by making her own video in which she declares her intention to run for office (in between scoping out the best tanning spots in her travel magazine - "Oh, Maui. Loves it!") and proposes a surprisingly intelligent solution to the energy problem.

The video borrows the format of McCain's video for spoofing purposes, calling McCain the oldest celebrity in the world ("like super old") comparing him to Yoda, that creepy skeletal figure from "Tales from the Crypt," Colonel Sanders of Kentucky Fried Chicken fame and TV's most beloved elderly foursome, The Golden Girls.

Hilton, seated poolside in a swimsuit, proceeds to say she's "not from the olden days and not promising change like that other guy," she's "just hot." She refers to McCain as that "wrinkly, white-haired guy" and says that since he featured her in his campaign ad, she's apparently running for president, then thanks the "white-haired dude" for his endorsement.

Apparently, she's "like totally ready to lead."

After proposing her alarmingly logical solution to the energy problem (you have to wonder why either presidential candidate didn't think of this one) she throws down the gauntlet.

"Energy crisis solved," she says. "I'll see you at the debates, bitches!"

Oh, other deets: Rihanna is a possible vice president, and Hilton plans to paint the White House pink. Before the spoof fades to black, she blows a kiss to the viewers and said she approved the message because she thinks it's "totally hot."

The video is brilliant for two main reasons.

One, it mocks the ridiculousness of McCain's ad, which attempts to undermine Obama's fitness to lead by twisting his ideas about energy policy and making silly comparisons between Obama and blond pop tarts.

And two, it does so with Paris Hilton, the notoriously ditzy celebutante who yet manages to make McCain look like a fool.

McCain's campaign advisors may want to go back to the drawing board, and McCain should consider either waking up from his slumber or changing his tactics if he wants to live at the White House someday. Because getting burned by Paris Hilton is never a good sign.
