Paris Hilton has called the jail time unfair, and was possibly looking to appeal the judge's decision for incarceration. However, later Paris Hilton told the media she was willing to suffer the consequences for her actions by exactly stating she was:
"[...] ready to face the consequences of violating probation." (CBS 2 News)
However, the jail time Paris Hilton will be facing isn't that bad at all. She will be housed in a "special needs housing unit". And according to an interview between CBS 2 News and Los Angeles County sheriff's department spokesman Steve Whitmore, Hilton may not even have a cell mate with her. The "special needs housing unit" is used for incarcerated police officers, public officials, celebrities, and other high-profile inmates that is serving time in the big house.
The reasoning that Hilton's sentence was shortened was due to "good behavior", which was proclaimed by jail officials.
What Hilton was most likely looking for was what Michelle Rodriguez, a popular actress that plays a role in the T.V. show titled Lost. Michelle Rodriguez was initially sentenced to 60 days in jail for a similar incident. However, as of right now, Hilton doesn't have that, and may not have the luck that Michelle Rodriguez had either.
The debate of whether Paris Hilton should be jailed is still controversial. Some people think that those involved in the cases are doing it for publicity. For example, the judge whom initially sentenced Hilton to 45 days in jail was asked for their autograph by Hilton's mother. But just because someone is a celebrity doesn't mean they are above the law. In fact, pushing the law on celebrities would show society that no one can escape the law for their wrongdoings, despite your social and fame status.
Paris Hilton was ordered by a judge to report to jail by June 5th, 2007 for her wrongdoings.
Check back for further coverage involving Paris Hilton and her charges for her DUI. With a decent amount of time left prior to her sentencing, there is still time for more cuts in her total incarceration time.
