Park Place South Construction Causes Resident Complaint
Neighborhood: Mountain View
San Jose, CA 94040
United States of America
Park Place South Apartments--managed by Prometheus Real Estate-has recently been undergoing a large construction project. One anonymous resident, going by the name "gmksrq", expressed her concerns about the problems she faces at Park Place South during the day: knocking, crashing, sawing, workmen singing, yelling, yapping, dust, fire alarms, and falling debris have been an ongoing issue, according to gmksrq.

"This is now a horrible and potentially unsafe place to live. I feel like I signed a lease for a BMW, but ended up with a Pinto," stated gmksrq. After a year of happy residency, she is now considering other options.

Unfortunately, Mountain View "has no city ordinance prohibiting loud noise. The California Penal Code gives limited authority to enforce 'disturbing the peace.'" according to the city of Mountain View.

There are, however, noise ordinances as it applies to construction: "No construction activity shall commence prior to 7 a.m. nor continue later than 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, nor shall any work be permitted on Saturday or Sunday or holidays unless prior written approval is granted by the building official," according to Mountain View City Construction Ordinance.

If you have an issue with Park Place South that is in violation of the city construction ordinance, contact Mountain View City Code Enforcement at 650-526-7713.

I just saw this. I'm GMKSRQ - Guy Kulman. Anyway, thanks for picking this up. Prometheus is a horrible company - nothing I wrote was meant to be anonymous. If you want to hear more about it, let me know.
