Prospect Park's Wollman Rink will be closed for the entire 2010-2011 winter due to construction on the new Lakeside Center. The skating rink parking lot will also be closed starting on November 1.

According to the Prospect Park Alliance, Lakeside will feature two new ice skating rinks that will be available open year round for roller skating and other water activities. The center will also have a new pedal boat dock, promenade and café.

Funding for the Lakeside Center was made possible by a $1.5 million grant from the Independence Community Foundation and over $25 million from Borough President Markowitz, City Council and the Office of Mayor Bloomberg.
