The pewter game pieces for this game are Jack Sparrow's hat, Jack's shrunken head, Davy Jones' dice cup, Davy Jones' heart, Davy Jones' locket and the last piece is Flying Dutchman cannon. These are some great pieces. I think they could have come up with some better pieces but these will have to do.
You will find instead of Income tax and luxury tax you will now pay for cursed loot or docking fee. I thought these were great.
The old chance and community chest cards have been replace with pirates dice and treasure cards. These cards have the same purpose as chance and community chest. Some of the cards earn you money some cost you money others send you to jail.
Instead of railroad you buy ships. You can buy the Black Pearl, The Flying Dutchman, the Endeavor and the Empress. My family love fighting over the ships.
The utilities are replace with Davy Jones' chest and Davy Jones' key but they work the same as the utilities did.
Instead of buying houses and hotels you will now buy docks and harbors. This is an interesting change.
There are still thirty two properties that you can purchase on your way around the board. The value of these properties are the same as in the original game. Board walk and Park Place are now Shipwreck city and Chamber of the Brethren Court. Other great places to purchase are Rumrunner's isle, Fort Charles, Cannibal village, Tia Dalma's shack, East India Trading Company, Cursed treasure Cavern and many more.
The money is the same as in the original game. The only difference is the pictures on the money are dead pirates.
The object of the game is still to buy as many properties as you can and build as many docks and harbors as you can. The one with the most money wins. The other thing that is still the same is Jail. That is right you still get to go to jail and do not collect $200.00 if you pass go.
For the most part there is not short version to this game. It can go on forever. You can set a time limit so that it will end. I like to set a limit of an hour because I always have things to do in between games. This also keeps us from getting board with the game as well.
I found this game for sale at Hollywood Video. The game cost me $29.99 but well worth it. I am sure you can check on eBay or other stores online and maybe get a better deal.
My family like the movie themes Monopoly games more that the original board game. We find the pictures from the movies that are on the board as well as the cards are fun to look at. This makes my third themes monopoly board game. I think if you liked the movie Pirates of the Caribbean and you like the game monopoly you will love this board game. This is definitely a pirates life for me.
