Parker School Announces Scholarship Dinners

I was recently invited to the Cooke & the Colonel Scholarship Dinners that will be held on May 7, 2011, and sponsored by Francis W. Parker School, located at 330 West Webster Avenue in Chicago's Lincoln Park neighborhood.

My co-worker is volunteering as one of the sous chefs for the event, so it will be fun to see what she cooks up. I was also asked to donate an auction item for the event, but haven't decided on what to bring yet. This is going to be like one of those progressive dinners, where you go to one person's house for appetizers and then on to another home for dinner, except the gala starts at the school and then the guests get transported to one of the homes of a Parker host. Part of the fun, is not knowing whose home you'll be dining at.

The reception will start off at the school for a cocktail reception and the live auction, and then we're off for dinner at one of the 25 Parker host family homes. The best part about it, is that 30 students might get the opportunity to get a Francis W. Parker School education from the funds that the reception brings in. I hope the school meets their goal of raising $500,000 to put toward the fund, and my co-worker has already volunteered me to help with transportation arrangements and helping with the live auction.
