Parking at Denver International Airport

I have been a frequent traveler with Continental for many years and I can say that I probably have spent hundreds on airport parking within a year because most places charge between $15-20 for parking each day. If you park your car every time you are going on vacation then this can add up quickly. While this is the case for every airport, I find that most airports have a method that will allow you to save money by parking your car a farther distance from your gate. I was in Denver for a conference a month ago and I needed to get to New York to visit a sick family member. So, I had to park the car and leave it at the airport. I thought things would be okay if I planned ahead because the car was not yet due back and I needed to come back to the conference. In any event, I called a representative at Continental to ask how much I would be charged for the parking and I was transferred to an official who worked for the airport. I asked them for a quote on how much it would cost for me to pay for four days of overnight parking and I was told I had the following options.

If I was willing to park in a lot which was 3 miles away then I would only be charged $5.00 a day for the period of four days for a total of $20 but I would be required to pay the car myself and wait for the shuttle bus. I would also need to take my luggage along with me and bring it on the bus, which can be troublesome, but I figured it would be worth it to save money. This parking lot is called Pikes Peek and if I were to choose it then there were daily limits and I would be charged the set amount.

My other option was to have the car parked by a valet and I would be able to get out with all of my things at the checkout counter. This is a lot easier because I did not have to carry my bags or wait for the shuttle and my car would be closer when I arrived back but the fee would be $26 a day for a total of four days which comes to $104. To me this was not worth the price and so I decided to take the first option and the shuttle bus came quickly and left within five minutes. This was the best and most inexpensive way to park.
