Parks with Playgrounds: A Great Help for Moms

I live in a tiny 800 sq feet apartment. My babies are so energetic that sometimes they just place a toy in the middle of the living room and start running in circles around it. This activity is fun until one of them ends up bumping his head in the entertainment center.

Some days the fun thing to do is to get on top of the couch and jump from it, or on it. Other activities may include jumping in my "just made" bed or climbing baby gates, the point is all these activities are fun for them and stressing for me.

After all it is not fun to be jumpy all the time because of the fear of them getting hurt after they run into something or push each other against the furniture. Another reason of my stress is having the house completely messy just after ten minutes of making the beds or putting toys away.

When kids are bored they will do anything to try to entertain themselves. Watch out for decorations, household items, anything can become a toy or a fun activity for them. I know this from experience. So to stop the unnecessary stress my solution is to take them out to a park with a playground.

Letting my kids run in the park or climb the monkey bars in a playground is not just a fun activity but a necessary survival technique so that they can get rid of all the crazy amounts of energy they have without destroying the apartment or my patience.

They are kids and they need the freedom to run, jump and just be kids. I even read in a child development book that this kind of activities help their personality development, problem solving and social skills. So it is a win win activity in every angle. In my family personally, taking my kids to the park with a playground has become a tradition, and it works every time. They come home hungry after playing for a long time and tired making mealtime and bedtime as easy as they could be.
