Park+Vine Cincinnati, Ohio's "Green General Store"

Since 2007, Park+Vine has been Cincinnati's "Green General Store." They have introduced a wide range of sustainable, eco-friendly and Green products to local consumers. The store hosts Green events and provides Green living information. They commemorate events such as World Vegan Day and National Breastfeeding Awareness Month. For Park+Vine, Green living is more than just a catchphrase.

After only a short time in business, the Park+Vine Green idea outgrew it's original Vine St. location. The store recently relocated to 1202 Main St., an LEED certified site two blocks away. As a testament to the Park+Vine dedication to Green, the owner shunned motor vehicles and moved via a "dolly brigade." Volunteers used dollies to pass store content person to person from the old store to the new. Cincinnatians may remember the new site as the former Kaldi's Coffee Shop.

Park+Vine - Historic Neighborhood, Modern Eco-Friendliness

Just like the old Vine St. location, the new store is vintage Over The Rhine. The high ceilings remain, but that sleepy Kaldi's dimness has been updated. The walls are bare, recycled brick. The trim is bright white. Freestanding wooden shelves stocked with the latest Green living products have taken the place of Kaldi's dark wooden tables.

Where used books once lined Kaldi's walls, packed shelves now hold eco-friendly products. All those Green products make the aisles a tight squeeze in a few spots; but that's the Green General Store feel you will come to love.

Exit the doorway from the store side and you will find a small vegan market with bulk grains and nuts, packaged foods, your favorite power or snack bars and a refrigerator case with beverages and more.

For coffee lovers, Park+Vine offers a locally roasted coffee bean subscription with a new coffee bean each week. The Park+Vine lunch counter sells sandwiches prepared by a local restaurant.
