I realize that not everyone is a fan of Persian food. With me it's hit and miss although I can't understand why. I mean, if it's a certain kind of food, shouldn't it all be the same? (Of course, don't get me started on the Mexican Food around here!)

I've tried a couple places in the Valley. Some have good food but the atmosphere is a little "off." I won't point out the weird places, because my level of what's weird probably isn't everyone, or even anyone else's. To each his own I always say.

Back to the point. Yesterday, my husband drove us out to Pars Persian Cuisine on Frank Lloyd Wright Blvd., just past Via Linda. In my opinion, this place had the right atmosphere and the right food.

I had the Beef Shish-Kebab, nothing special I know, but to me, this is one way of judging Persian food. The meat was perfect, the vegetables perfect. I ordered it with half rice and half Shirazi Salad, which is freshly diced cucumbers, tomatoes and onions with a lemon and olive oil dressing. Fabulous! The Basmati Rice is another favorite of mine, just wish I could get it this perfect at home.

It was a good thing I ordered the half rice and half salad. My daughter ordered the Chicken Filet-Kebab with all rice. Her place was mostly rice. And it was a big plate! She loved the chicken, said it wasn't overly seasoned or marinated, which meant it had to be good because she is a finicky eater, especially when it comes to food that is outside of her usual steak and pasta type of meal.

My husband had the Sultani, a combination of filet mignon and Koobideh, which is ground beef that is pressed into a form and them charbroiled on a skewer. He had half rice and the Garden Salad, which was more like a Greek salad, with its Kalamata olives and feta cheese. Sooooo good!

It was about 4pm when we were there, so it was us and two other couples dining. Our waiter Kevin was very nice and seemed to be extremely happy to have something to do.

The place is tucked back in the Ancala Village, close to the Good Egg on the south side of Frank Lloyd Wright Blvd., just east of Via Linda. For a landmark, there is a Taco Bell in the parking lot.

My Rating: 4 Thumbs Up. Good Food, Good Service, Good Price. Just a little out of the way, but worth the drive.
