Partial-birth Abortion: Is it Leading to the End of Women's Right to Abortion in General?

The Supreme Court decided that partial-birth abortion was no longer legal even if a woman's health is at risk. Partial-birth abortion is one method of abortion, where they induce labor late in pregnancy and help the baby out of the birth canal.Next thing is before the fetus is fully delivered, the physician will put a hole in the back of the skull and suction the brains out of the fetus. The thought of it is sickening to many and I believe that it was the right decision to end that practice but does my personal belief and those like me have the right to override that of someone who believe its just to do that because its the woman's choice? That thought led me to believe this could possibly be the start of ending a woman's right to any other method of abortion? The debate begins.

The prolife side of the debate is a life is formed at the moment of conception. As soon as the man's sperm meets with the woman's egg, it is now a baby. They believe no matter the method once you terminate a pregnancy you have now killed an innocent person. That innocent person(the unborn child) deserves a voice and the right to life and the government should not be allowing that right to be denied. It does not matter what the situation of the woman's life is at that moment.
On the other hand, prochoice believe that it is the woman's choice on what to do with her body. Only she should make the decision on whether or not to have the unborn child. Its not the government or anyone's place to invade on a life altering decision. Prochoice also believe that what type of life the child would have if the mother decided to carry to term and neglects the child. If she waited until she was ready to have a child then that child would probably have a better life because she was ready and not forced to have him or her.

When it comes to abortion, I believe that you have 3 months to decide what to do. After the first trimester of pregnancy, you should then decide are you going to raise your child or put the child up for adoption. In the first three months you are talking about an embryo not a fetus.It was a shock to find out that in some states you have whole nine months to decide whether or not you to keep your baby. You can be six months pregnant and tell your doctor you want an abortion. That to me is just unbelievable. The partial-birth abortion method is so gruesome, to actually want to do that to a baby is horrible.

The decision the supreme court made was both right and wrong. It was right because you shouldnt be given 40 weeks(10 months) to figure out if you want to have this baby or not. The decision was wrong in the fact that what if your health or men ,your wife's health was in danger because of something with the baby. The only way to cure her would be to have an abortion if the baby would not survive with the best of medicine because of how premature he or she would be. YOu would not be able to do it because the procedure is illegal. What would you do then?? Your life or wife's life was less important eventhough there is no way to save the child. While the clock is ticking on the woman's life, they want you to go to court to prove why she should have the procedure. Who knows how long it will take for the courts to make the decision on your personal life. Yes, I know an extreme picture but you never know what will happen in your life especially during pregnancy.

Now that the precedent has been established. What would that mean for all types of abortion method? Will it mean an attack on all abortion method to be banned and we will go back to the 1950's and early 60's. During those times when a desperate woman uses a wire hanger to do the abortion herself or goes to unlicense practioner or some criminal out to get a quick money. Is the life of one worth the risk of the other?

If it does cause abortion to be abolished , how would the government take care of so many unwanted children? They cant even take care of ones now in foster homes. Will there be more ways to help these children and the mothers on counseling to deal with the fact that she really didnt want to have the child. The quality of the child life may not be the best it could be if the mother had the abortion and then waited until she was ready to have him or her.

Abortion is not a form of birth control and should not be used as such. Females should think ahead before they have sex. They should not wait until she gets pregnant to think about what she has done. We are the ones that have to go through morning sickness and when the child is born we are the ones who have to take responsibilty on that life. I believe you shouldnt have a child from a one night stand and shouldnt have a child if you already knew he has a wife or girlfriend. If you dont know who the father is and you are just guessing , you shouldnt have that baby. When your child gets older , you should be able to look the child in the face when he ask about his or her father. That is my belief. As a female you should think about those things before you get pregnant just because he cute.

This precedent has to make everyone think whether you are male or female. Females alittle bit more because your body is the one on debate. If you want to be drastic , your life as well as your unborn child. What kind of life will it that because of a law a family might lose two memebers in one tragic event? That is something we all need to keep in mind, two lives not just one.
