For this project, you will need (per cupcake pendant):
- One wooden toothpick
- Ruler
- Pencil
- Black and white damask print scrapbook paper (available at scrapbook paper shops)
- Bright red cardstock
- White cardstock
- One inch wooden mounted rubber stamp in a design of your choice (monogram, happy birthday, thanks, congrats, etc.)
- Bright red ink
- Decorative edge scissors
- Craft knife
- Self healing mat
- Elmer's glue stick
- Hot glue gun and glue sticks
- Cupcakes
- Newspaper and/or a large drop cloth
Cover your work area with a few sheets of newspapers or a good sized drop cloth to prevent any glue drips during this project. Place a sheet of black and white damask paper print side down on the work area. In pencil, create a three inch square using a ruler. Carefully cut out the square with decorative edge scissors.
Lay flat a piece of bright red cardstock on the self healing mat. Use a ruler and a pencil to create a three and a half inch square. Cut out the square with a craft knife. Use a bit of Elmer's glue stick to mount the decorative edge damask square onto the center of red cardstock square.
Lay a piece of white cardstock flat on the self healing mat. Use a ruler and a pencil to create a two inch square on the paper. Cut out the square from the white cardstock using a craft knife.
Press the wooden mounted rubber stamp into the red ink pad. Transfer the design to the center of the white cardstock square. Allow the ink to dry fully. Mount the white square onto the center of the damask and red piece.
Once the glue has dried heat up the hot glue gun on a low setting. Apply a dab of hot glue to the end of a toothpick. Adhere the toothpick to the back of the damask and red cupcake pendant. Cool completely before inserting into a coordinating style cupcake.
TIP: This design looks awesome and chic in other colors besides red. Consider hot pink, teal blue, bright purple, and bright green all perfect alternative designs. Also, choose a sentiment stamp that coordinates to your event. (I.e. "Happy Birthday", "Just Married", "Congrats", etc.)
