When planning a weekend or holiday party, ice down the beer, set out the blender and be prepared to keep your party animal friends busy by playing one of the following drinking game favorites!

Drinking Games for Your Party:

If you need some game ideas for your weekend party, The Webtender website has a list of games on their " Drinking Games" page. Another good website to use as a drinking game resource is DrinkingGames.com., where you can customize your search based on the number of party animals at your party!

Quarters - A Bar Room Favorite!

Probably the most popular drinking game out at a bar is quarters. The game is played by positioning a glass opposite a player who tries to bounce a quarter into the glass. If he succeeds, the other players drink. If he misses, he drinks. There are variations on the Webtender site.

BullshXX - Where Drinkers Use Their Bluffing Skills!

Deal out an entire deck of cards to players evenly. Starting, with Aces, each player plays their Aces on the stack, face down. Since not everyone really has an Ace, some will bluff. Players can accuse another player of lying by saying "BullshXX", but if they are wrong, they drink AND pick up the entire stack of played cards. Then the play moves to the next card, and play continues until a player has played all their cards.

Flip Cup - Best Flipping Team Wins!

Flip cup is a drinking relay game. Position an equal number of players on each side of a table, forming two teams. Place a cup in front of each player that is 1/3 full. To start the game, each team's player in first position drinks up and then places his empty cup right side up on the table. With one hand he tries to flip his cup until it lands upside down on the table. Once the first player is successful, player two takes his turn, etc. The first team to finish wins! For a large party group, the winning team can be challenged by the next team.

Indian Poker - Drinking Card Game Played Blind!

Deal every player a card and place the rest of the deck face down in the center. Without looking at the card, each player holds up his card to his forehead so that the other players can see it. Each player has the option of keeping their card (Remember, they have no idea what it is) or taking a drink, discarding it and drawing a new one. Highest card wins the hand.

Beer Pong - A Team Drinking Game

This game is a fun team game played with beer glasses and ping pong balls. Ten cups are positioned at the opposite ends of a table, bowling pin style. Each team takes turns trying to land their ping pong ball into one of the other teams cups. When they do, someone on the other team drinks and that cup is removed. Check out the " How to Play Beer Pong " for an entertaining visual instruction for playing the game!

Thumper (or him!)

Arrange as many people around the table as possible. Each player creates a signature motion to use during the game and everyone tries to memorize each other's gestures. Players begin thumping the table until someone calls out the signal to start, such as, "What are we playing?" Everyone yells, "Thumper". And then, "Why do we play?" Answer: "To get drunk!" Whoever yelled makes his gesture followed by someone elses. This gesture signals the next player who now does his gesture followed by another player's, and so on. When someone messes up, they drink.

Try Out These Board Games as Drinking Games

Don't forget the board games! Almost any game that requires activity or skills makes for a fun drinking game. Take a favorite from the game cabinet and add a few drinking rules. Voila! You've got a party drinking game. Some examples:

- Jenga - It's hard enough to build that tower sober! Mark each piece with a drinking activity and it becomes chaotic fun!

- Qwelf - The crazy activities in Qwelf make it a fun group drinking game. (It's hilarious even without alcohol!)

- Beerchesi - Play Parchesi according to its ages old rules, but if you get sent back or can't move, take a drink!

- Beeropoly - For a small party group, play Monopoly without money, using sips of alcohol in payment of money due.

Check out Amazon for Drinking Games

To expand your drinking game collection, check online sites, such as Amazon.Amazon.com has a host of drinking games, such as Utterly Outrageous Drinking Games, Big Bad-Ass Drinking Games, or even the Complete Book of Beer Drinking Games .

Whatever drinking game is a hit with your friends, it's imperative that safety be a consideration when alcohol is involved. Make sure guests are accompanied by a designated driver or that another responsible party plan is in place prior to pouring those shots! If the plan falls apart, be sure to call friends a cab or give them a place to crash. On certain holidays, you might be able to take advantage of AAA's Tipsy Tow service to help them get home with their car in tow safely!
