Channel 7, WXYZ in Detroit is pointing out a great way to spend your pre-Forth of July weekend. This weekend, Mt. Clemens, Michigan wil hold it's first ever Stars and Stripes Festival. The city is hoping to draw in at least 250,000 people over the three-day celebration.

The festival kicks off Friday at 10pm with a huge fireworks display over the waterfront. There are many people that will come out for the event, so it would behoove anyone going to try to get there early.

The festival will open each day at 10am for festivalgoers to enjoy everything that the city has to offer. The Stars and Stripes Festival will be located in the downtown area of Mt. Clemens, and has a lot to offer.

There are many local restaurants that will be there to try their great food. There will also be traditional festival vendors that will be selling cotton candy, hot dogs, hot pretzels, peanuts, and elephant ears. There is nothing better on a warm summer's day then a hot elephant ear.

There will be rides and amusements for both the young and the young at heart. There will be the usual assortment for games for you to win great prizes, or lose your money on. There is a lot of room in the area so they are going to use as much of it as possible.

The point of this festival is to remind people that there is a lot to do in Mt. Clemens. After the festivities are over, many people will notice the wide selection of local bars and nightclubs in the area. There is a good mix of younger and older crowd hangouts in the general area. Downtown Mt. Clemens has everything from pool halls to concert halls, and from karaoke bars to dance clubs.

There are many people that have given up on going into Downtown Detroit for the festivities that go on down there. There have been many issues with security during Detroit over the last decade, and many people have been left with nothing to do on the weekend before the Fourth of July in Southeast Michigan.

The City of Mt. Clemens is hoping to cash in on these people and bring them to Downtown Mt. Clemens for the first time. One thing should be noted that even though Downtown Mt. Clemens can boast of a lot of parking, parking might be at a premium during this weekend's festivities. The early bird may not only get the worm, but also a good parking spot.
