Party Planners - How to Add Great Website Content
Dos and Don't for Adding Content to Your Party Planning Website
Here are some simple Dos and Don'ts on adding content to your party planning website
Party Planning Website Content - Don't go over the readers head.
No matter what kind of content you are publishing on your website, make sure it is targeted to your customer. Don't go into too much detail or get overly technical. Your customers may just get confused and leave. Thus, defeating the purpose of the content on your website.
Your party planning website is a way for you to market your self to customers. Write articles with party planning tips, reviews of party items, suggest themes, and more. The more helpful you seem as a party planner, the more people will look at you as an expert.
Remember, most newspapers are written on a sixth grade reading level. Your web content should be the same way. When all else fails remember the famous saying; "keep it simple, stupid". Your customers and readers will love you for it.
Party Planning Website Content - Do stay up-to-date with technology
Checking your content regularly is key. With web browsers being updated so frequently you need to make sure your party planning website and content can be displayed properly on all of them Test your content on all the major browsers out there to make sure your readers and customers are seeing your content the way it was meant to be seen.
If your content doesn't how up right odds are that your customers will just leave. Nine times out of ten, the customer will leave without telling you there was a problem or bad link. When they do inform you of a problem, their response is usually hard to understand and doesn't usually help. This means it's up to you to check your content every few moths.
Party Planning Website Content - Don't write the content yourself
Party planners are always trying to cut costs and do things themselves, such as writing web content. Don't go this route unless you plan to have your work edited and proofed by a professional. Content written by the owner is great for helping them become branded an expert, but only if the article looks like it was written by an expert.
Invest the money into paying for content or hiring a professional to proof everything before it goes live. There are also lots of websites out there that offer free content. Check them out, but don't forget to have someone double check it for errors before you post it.
Party Planning Website Content - Do use graphics
People like pictures. It gives them something to look at, helps break up text, and makes the page look less boring. Even if you have amazing content customers tend to get discouraged at a monstrous page of text.
Odds are, your last party had a professional photographer. Contact them and see if they will let you use their pictures in return for some advertising space on your website or links back to theirs. This is a great way to get free professional photographs for your party planning website.
Make sure your pictures have top quality. Poor looking pictures can leave negative ideas about your business in a customers mind. There are plenty of free stock photo websites out there so check them out.
It is also great if your photos serve a purpose. For example, if you were writing a how-to article it would be great if you could post step-by-step pictures or something of that nature.
Graphics are also important because they can add hidden keywords to your site. If your photos are tagged with proper HTML they can add words to your website that are only seen by search engines.
Party Planning Website Content - Do plan to update content
You can't get away with adding a whole bunch of content when you build your website and then forgetting about it. You need to update this content regularly. The more you update your party planning site the better it looks to search engines and customers. If you keep adding valuable content then you will have customers coming back regularly to see what's new.
