Parvarti Shallow Shocks All, Takes Home Survivor's Million Dollar Prize

Amy Cox
Another season of the hit reality show Survivor wrapped up Sunday night, with Parvarti taking home the million dollar prize. She went to the final two with Amanda and it initially looked grim for Parvarti. Most thought that the even tempered, mild mannered Amanda was a shoe in for the prize. One never knows how the jury feels about the contestants, though, and that proved itself once again on Survivor Micronesia.

The final show began with the women contestants triumphant. They had outlasted the men, and it appeared that everything was going to go as planned. Amanda, Parvarti, Cirie, and Natalie were sitting pretty on top of the Survivor throne. They were actually happy for a bit.

Of course, though, this is Survivor, not an after school special. You just can't have that many women on television together without some drama. These ladies did not disappoint.

When the women went to their immunity challenge, it was a do or die situation for Natalie. She's a feisty little thing, and she went to that competition to win it. She started out ahead, but Amanda caught up to her and won immunity. Then it became obvious that Natalie was going home.

It seemed obvious, but for a moment, the viewers were left to doubt it. Was Cirie going to have an earlier exit than planned? The Survivors had a bit to think about. Cirie would be better with the jury than Natalie, who had made a name for herself by demolishing the males.

Alas, Amanda and Parvarti decided to do something completely against Survivor etiquette. Yes, they stuck with their alliance and kept Cirie. Such loyalty is unheard of in Jeff Probst Land.

Things weren't done yet, though. That Jeff Probst likes to have some fun. He looked at the ladies, all sitting there smugly, and couldn't help but smile. He knew the game wasn't over yet. After all, would it really be Survivor if there wasn't a trick left up the producers' sleeves?

This season of Survivor was not going to have a final three. It was only going to have a final two. That meant that one of the three happy ladies was about to get a plane ticket home.

At that point, viewers pretty much knew that Cirie was gone. She doesn't win competitions. She's the schemer, but not the winner. Parvarti was not going to win the challenge, either, but there was a good shot that Amanda would take her to the final two.

As if on cue, Amanda won immunity, and at a tearful tribal council, sent Cirie packing.

That's a lot of drama for an hour. But of course, it wasn't over yet.

Voted off Survivors are an angry group of people. They came swarming with questions and one liners aimed at Amanda and Parvarti. Some were funny, others were awkward. Among the most awkward are when that crazy Eliza said that when Amanda spoke, it made her want to kill herself, and when Natalie tried to get Parvarti to explain her bedroom behavior. That question seemed to loose everyone except for Parvarti herself.

For whatever reason, the contestants thought that Parvarti answered the questions better and gave her the prize. Amanda, for the second season in a row, was left clapping for the person sitting next to her.

Now that Survivor has remade itself, there should be some good seasons to come. Jeff Probst just signed on for two more years, which means we'll get at least four more seasons of Survivor fun.

Excellent recap! I thought this Survivor was a tie for the best with the very first Survivor! It would have been a perfect show had Amanda won, for me.
