Q: Tell us a little about yourself.
Baconator: I am 44 years old, soon to be 45 but for the most part mentality on a good day feel 29. I have two sons that live with me that I have adopted. Their ages are 7 and 9. I have a bunch of other kids that live in various places who I have fostered in the past that I refer to as mine and they still refer to me still today as Mom. I think it is a birthday Christmas thing though! ;-) I also have a significant other who has two boys of his own ages 5 and 9. My father passed away over 20 years ago now but my mother is still living and resides in Iowa. I have a total of 5 other living siblings and one sister who was very, very dear to me who passed away several years back.
Q: The name you use here on AC and why:
Baconator: Baconator because I love bacon and there is nothing that you can make that by adding bacon just makes it better!
Q: Where do you live and what do you do for a living?
Baconator: I live in Wisconsin. I drive a school bus for my kid's school. It works out great now because I do not need a sitter. Previously I worked in the Social Service field for over 17 years. This is a nice break from the stress before, but I do miss the money. I know I didn't make a killing in the service field, but it was a tad bit more then now.. LOL!
Q: Do you have a hobby?
Baconator: I have tons of hobbies, but the real question is how often I get to do them, which is seldom. I love to crochet, bake breads, and paint. I can't recall the last time I picked up a paint brush and created. I also love to do home repair projects and mow the lawn. A bit sick and twisted but is peaceful. I also enjoy gardening.
Q: What is your idea of a great vacation?
Baconator: Any where where I can sleep in at this moment and not be required to do anything!
Q: What kind of movies do you enjoy and what is your favorite movie?
Baconator: I am huge into horror flicks. Favorite movie? Good question. I guess if I had to pick one right this moment, for some reason Children of the Corn is coming to mind. Maybe I have a pulling to that one because the children take over and with my past work I can see some reality in the need of some children to crave that power.
Q: Would you call yourself an outdoor or indoor type of person?
Baconator: I am a outdoor person easily. I love working in my yard, flowers, etc. I am not fond of harsh winters though, so during the cold season I am definitely a indoor person!
Q: How long have you been writing?
Baconator: I guess I have been writing all of my life but was encouraged to write more when I was in the 9th grade by a creative writing teacher. I was big into writing poems that reflected my life at the time, which was quiet turbulent. Come to think of it, not much has changed since I was in the ninth grade! LOL!
Q: If you had a Bucket List, what would be the top three things you wanted to do before you die?
Baconator: Top three things? 1. See my boys grown, successful in whatever it is they want to do, safe, and happy. 2. Feel loved totally. Long story.. 3. Get to a point in my life to where there is not the constant worry about money. Not rich, just comfortable to where the money is there monthly to make bills and get the few things my children ask for without having the worries if I will be able to make rent by doing so.
I am a pretty simplistic person and really don't ask nor need for much. Fancy vacations are really not my thing or exotic travels. I just want to be comfortable and happy and grow old like that.
Q: Do you have a favorite author (not an AC Producer)?
Baconator: Stephen King.. he is the closest to my reality I have read! LOL!
Q: What do you like about writing for Associated Content?
Baconator: The freedom. I have really enjoy the new display only, it gives me a chance to vent through poetry, get feed back and then remove it when I am no longer comfortable looking at it.
Q: Do you publish your work anywhere else?
Baconator: I also have been writing fro Textbroker.com and plan on starting to submit to EDUdeposit soon once I get settled from our move. I have a yahoo 360 page also, but haven't had much time for it and actually use it for a escape and to laugh at the drama.
Q:Where do you get your inspiration for topics?
Baconator: Well that depends on what is going on in my life at the moment, if things are smooth it may be a day trip the boys and I went on and I want to share the place with others, or if rocky roads are in the picture it would be a vent poem, sometimes friends inspire me and of course the good old mighty dollar if AC has a call for content that I can relate to.
Q: Do you have a favorite genre to work in?
Baconator: I guess home improvements or anything related to gardening or BACON! I enjoy writing poetry but find I can only really write it when things are messed up or wrong in my world. The words seem to come to me easier then, go figure.
Q: Which piece of work here on Associated Content do you think is an example of your best work?
Eeeekk.. I haven't a clue! Really!
Since Baconator couldn't pick a favorite, I am listing here one of my favorite articles of hers written about a trip to the zoo! Check it out, it's a fine example of the type of articles she writes.
