it's harder than you realize
i think
your voice like a ghost
quiet, furred at the edges
pauses, the cadence like music
you wrote
late one night
fresh out of sleep.

i can hear your breath between your words
i know the rise and fall of your chest
by heart.

or where you've been
or if you even exist
anymore

to turn around
and look.

    looking back we may see what was in the front view all along...we just didn't see it then; maybe because we didn't want to.

    yeah... and sometimes the rearview and the front view should be the same, but they're not.
