Passion in Passing

Greg Seltz
An enlightened sense of clarity eagerly transforms my reformed nature. First, sickness. Excruciating torment decimates my mortal perception; the binding contract a divine existence once offered is now cheated. Anxious to abate my conscious in exchange for an ultimate reality, I consume a substance known as the destroying angel. Toxicant with a celestial aspect, I scour the agony as it manipulates the totality of my previous existence. Family and friends embrace my intentions, though their deceased nature refuses to permit additional support. They simply stare as I probe the vast, never-ending ceiling; their dark, quiescent eyes negotiating my return. I calmly deny the disturbance and sink gently to my awaiting grave beneath the ocean floor. An attempted cry is drowned under the commotion of running water, as my trip unexpectedly produces unfavored results among a distressing conclusion.
