Passions is a very unique soap opera, that at first seems nothing like a soap opera. It has featured mermaids and zombies, and stars witches on a regular basis. This show focuses on 4 families that reside in Harmony, Massachusetts. The Cranes are known to be powerful, and manipulative. The Lopez-Fitgeralds are kind, loving people who seem to be cursed at times. Other characters include the Bennet family, and the Russells... and some 'out there' character like bad-boy-you-love-to-hate Spike.
This intriguing show first debuted in 1999 on NBC, and has gathered over 2 million fans over the years. When NBC announced that the show would no longer be on their programming as of September, fans were devastated. Fortunately, after months of fighting... Passions found a new home.
"Passions fans no longer need to mourn the demise of their beloved program as it has found new life on DIRECTV," said Eric Shanks, executive vice president of Entertainment for DIRECTV. "We care about this show and are extremely proud to give it an exclusive home here at DIRECTV."

For those fans who aren't already Direct TV customers, there will be plenty of time to switch over. Direct TV is also offering special promotions for loyal Passions fans including free installation, a free DVR or HD reciever upgrade, and a free portable DVD player. Although it is fortunate for fans that Passions will continue, it is important to acknowledge that it will be on a Direct TV exclusive channel.
Passions will end as planned on NBC on September 7th, 2007 with a series of cliffhangers. On September 17th, the show will continue on Direct TV exclusive channel 101, keeping it;s original time frame from 2pm-3pm ET.
"This new arrangement with DIRECTV is truly a landmark development that allows NBC Universal to extend the Passions brand in a fresh and entirely new way, to DIRECTV's 16 million homes," said Marc Graboff, president, NBC Universal Television, West Coast. "It will reward the dedicated fans of the daytime drama who can continue to enjoy it on DIRECTV and also opens up a great new model for other television programs to find new life on other non-traditional platforms."

Post a CommentI looked forward to watching Passions every day! If i missed an episode, I would count down the time until it was available on-line. It sucks to have an enjoyable show move to direct tv that is not offered in my area! what a joke! it also sucks that they won't offer it on-line!!! come on help a fan out!
I have been watching Passions off and on since it began. In my opinion it has been a better soap in the last few months than it ever has. I just do not understand why after all of the bull through the years that when it gets exciting and questions began to be answered that it has to be moved. Please consider all of the people who are protesting this move it could hurt in other ways also.

I have watched Passions since day 1 and hate that it has gone to Direct TV. I have had and will never have Direct TV again !!! Although I hate the fact that it's not on NBC anymore we can't blame NBC when the ratings aren't there. NBC is not a network that just drops shows out of the blue. So for us die hard Passion fans just ask your this , If all of those who are complaining now had complained to NBC 5 mths. ago would we even be talking about this?!
I am outraged that passions moved to Direct TV. I will NOT switch from Comcast to Direct TV just for one soap opera. I can't make the switch anyway due to living in an apartment. I've been a loyal fan of the show ever since it started and watched the episodes online when I missed one on TV. I am so upset by this that I will NEVER watch anything on NBC again. Matter of fact I just watched my old soap opera online that I used to be into and that is The Young and the Restless. I hope Direct TV suffers and doesn't get many sales from this. I hope someday the episodes are brought back to a regular network or at least brought back to online viewing.
You absolutely need to bring Passions back to NBC!!
It is not fair to most of us hard working people who cannot see putting extra money out just to watch one show. You should of started it on Direct TV in the beginning rather than causing the problems that you have now. I will NOT switch to Direct TV and I am sure you will be losing viewers.
Direct Tv obviously doesn't care about Passions fans! Not everyone can afford Direct Tv service but do they care? NO!!!!
They could air it online for passions fans but they aren't...Why? Because they wouldn't make money. They don't care about people, they care about money.
Please put Passions back on NBC. Not everyone one can afford the expense of Direct TV. For those Loyal fans who have been watching this Soap Operah since the begining. You do a dis service to us. Putting it on Direct Tv, instead of keeping it on NBC.
Put it back on nbc, or at least back on the internet. People don't have the money to get direct tv.
I've been a huge fan of the show since it first aired. I am more then upset that it's off NCB, especially since I've had Direct TV before and absolutely detest their service.
What a scam.. now it's just one more reason not to watch NBC...
