Past Lives and Reincarnation

For those that have had such experiences there is little doubt of this reality, for those that have not there may be an the underlying question of whether this is even possible or the more prevalent attitude of the afflicted being delusional. For centuries people having such experiences who sought help were eventually committed to sanatoriums of some sort depending on their personal or family assets. This phenomena in the past had been relegated into the area of the psychologically disturbed and delusional with no understanding of the cause. Even today people seeking help with such experiences are still treated with drugs and different forms of psychological therapy as opposed to understanding, that the concept of past lives and reincarnation may indeed have some bases in reality. For now the concept of past lives and reincarnation is still considered a questionable theory despite some rather startling revelations in this area of research. The Arts and Entertainment television channel some years ago had produced a well documented short series on real life past life regressions for those interested in this area of research whether we choose to believe in this conceptual theory or not.

In two cases regarding this phenomena where this author was called in on as an independent researcher to document and record each of these events involving different aspects of past life association each patient retained no active memories of their individual experiences after their recovery. The patients in these two cases had been involved in an accident involving a severe head trauma and both of them had awoken within an hour of their surgeries The following is a brief outline of these two events.

The first patient was a 46 year old male farmer of South American decent that woke up shortly after surgery extremely frightened and seemingly disorientated with regards to his surroundings and recognizing anyone or anything speaking with a distinctly female voice in what was a short time later discovered to be the Armenian language after a translator was found. This was somewhat astounding considering that this man had never travelled beyond the boundaries of his native land of Paraguay with little more than a rudimentary education. The patient of course had to be sedated a number of times over a four day period this event lasted to keep him calm during which he was questioned extensively as to this female persona's identity, date of birth, age, background, parentage, time period, location, topography etc... A concise and accurate history of this 27 year old female persona was recorded and translated in great detail including when any further memories of her existence ceased, which were later verified through Official channels. Apparently this female had died 63 years prior to the farmer's date of birth.

The other patient a young Chinese girl of 15 awoke shortly after surgery speaking in a very old style English used by the female nobility of the British 1600 hundreds era similarly disoriented and extremely frightened by her surrounding environment. This event was also well documented, recorded and lasted of about 32 hours after which the patient entered a coma state for 17 days to once again awake as herself. Unfortunately very few accurate records of that period are readily available for verification although the name descriptions and family history of this persona of a sixteenth noble woman was confirmed by privately held records of that family. Are these past lives? There is at present no way to be absolutely sure these are this individuals past life experiences, although based on this authors personal experiences in past life regression these and the thousands of similarly recorded events regarding past lives strongly suggests that the concept of reincarnation has some bases in fact rather than fiction.

Natural past life occurrences such as in dreams where the dreamer experiences the physical trauma or sensations of the dream even after they wake up may well be a portion of a past life memory triggered by the dream in some cases. Other past life events can be triggered by real life situations causing the past life memories to emerge and intermix with present day situations. To the person experiencing these past life memories the emotions and sensations associated with this memory are as real to them as what they can experience in everyday life. Repetitive past life memories like those memories experienced by people suffering from PTSD will be just as devastating to those suffering from past life experiences and perhaps more so because of the unknown origin of such memories. Past life memories usually manifest themselves more in young children and young adults rather than the more mature population and it's suspected by some that this may have a biological origin relating to the development and growth of the physical brain as opposed a psychological disorder this was once exclusively believed.

What may be relevant to the concept of past lives is the extraordinary abilities of past and present day very young prodigies with the refined natural talent they possess, some with little or no training. It's also quite possible that many psychological behaviour patterns may also be traced back to past live experiences. The idea that phobias such as the intense fear of water, heights, darkness, claustrophobia etc.. at a very young age may also have some relevance here. These are just a few of the different types of past life experiences that need to be further explored for definitive answers in understanding ourselves.

I've recently been watching the new TV series past lives and have to say the emotional and psychological elements to the show are quite fascinating and very well explained. Although the basic themes from the few shows presented so far revolve around traumatic past life events manifesting themselves into a present day conscious awareness, the show does present an aspect of our lives that may explain a great deal about our psychological behaviour patterns.
