Pat Boone is Making Phone Calls for Conservative Politicians

Pick Up the Phone. It Might Be Pat Boone.

Pat Boone is making phone calls on behalf of uber-conservative politicians.

If you just said, "Who?" you are not alone.

Pat Boone was a popular entertainer in the 1950s. He was a singer and made several movies although he refused to kiss any actress that wasn't his wife (making him the 1950s version of Kirk Cameron?). He made movies such as "April Love" and "State Fair". His movies were generally of the variety that involved the actors bursting into song several times.

Pat Boone grew up in a very conservative Christian family and continued that tradition with his own family. He married his wife, Shirley, in 1953 at only 19 years old. The couple has four daughters, Cheryl, Linda, Debby and Laura. Debby Boone had a singing career of her own. Cheryl is famous for being anorexic. When they were children Pat Boone's daughters toured with their fathers as a gospel singing group.

Boone was also a spokesperson for Chevrolet for several years, advising consumers to "See the USA in your Chevrolet". These ads ran in the 1950s and 1960s.

Pat Boone went through a weird heavy metal phase in 1997 where he wore leather and covered heavy metal songs on an album called "In A Metal Mood; No More Mr. Nice Guy". He was 63 years old at the time, and no one really understood what he was doing. It was kind of like Garth Brooks as Chris Gaines. One thing that did come out of this phase was that Boone's Ozzy Osbourne cover, "Crazy Train," became the theme song for reality show, "The Osbournes".

Pat Boone is part of the charismatic Christian movement and often appears on the conservative Christian Trinity Broadcast Network. He also supports extremely conservative political candidates and is apparently lending his voice to recorded phone calls in order to further their campaigns.

Boone has made such political statements as calling liberals "black, filthy cells" and comparing them to cancer. He is also violently against homosexual rights, referring to gay people as "vile" and "hedonistic" and "homegrown sexual jihadists".

Boone and his wife live in Los Angeles, California.
