I recently visited Pat Mayse Lake East in Paris Texas. If I had to guess I would say between all the areas in Pat Mayse Lake there is about 200 acres total.

The section we went to is called Pat Mayse Lake East. It was quiet, and there were not many visitors, granted we went on a Tuesday. There you can get very close to the Lake and to nature. Unfortunately I do not recommend trekking through the woods at Pat Mayse Lake because there are deer and wild hogs running loose. Pat Mayse Lake is great for hunting, as long as you have proper licensing to do so.

The reason we went there is a bit different than most and if you decide to go there for the same reasons you will be disappointed. We were planning on having a Wiccan ceremony out there. To build bonfires and things of that nature, you have to pay a fee for camping, if you plan to camp or not, and you can only build fires on the ringed platforms they have laid out.

However, you will not need to purchase fire wood, because there is an abundance of wood lying around that you may build a fire with.

Pat Mayse Lake is very still and nice great for fishing, and you will see many boaters out on the lake. Pat Mayse is open year around and doesn't close unless the water level rises to a dangerous level.

For a Wiccan ceremony you would need a place that is like this area that doesn't have many people distracting you and that you can build fires and things like that. However it wasn't a complete waste of time I did find a staff for me and a base for my besom.

Pat Mayse Lake also has many trees, rocks, water, camping facilities and wildlife.

So if you just want to do something fun with the family and get out of the city life for a while I would recommend Pat Mayse Lake East. It is the cleanest Lake in Paris Texas and is well kept. There are some city workers who drive by periodically so it's not in your best interest to break any rules Pat Mayse Lake has.
