Pat Robertson, What Are You Thinking?

Robertson Announces Support for Guiliani

Crystal Sciarini
I am not into politics, although I do excercise my right to vote. However, I just can't keep quiet any longer. I am in disbelief that Pat Robertson would bash Fred Thompson and then a few weeks later announce support for Rudy Guiliani. As a republican I cringe at the thought of Guiliani being titled a republican candidate.

Guiliani Supports Abortion
Granted I am not a fan of the 700 Club, but I have always supported their conservative views and belief in Jesus Christ as our Savior. So, how can a man who is suppose to stand for conservative views and has preached conservative views now endorse a candidate that supports abortion?

Guiliani Supports Gay Rights
When asked about gay rights Guiliani has a standard line, "I support gay rights." Robertson has stated many times on his show and online that he believes that gay and lesbianism is a sin. So again, Pat Robertson, how can you as a conservative Christian support Guiliani for President?

    Well said!

Crystal - glad to hear you were going to address that - it's part of a package. I do wonder if Robertson's endorsement is a tacit acknowledgement that the 'pro-life' political platform is a dead platform in presidential elections. I think, honestly, that President Bush may have been its death knell since the recent policies on war have completely alienated every denominational Christian Church in the country, officially. I wonder are they looking at a 'complete package' now (though I think Guiliani doesn't have it), or just giving up and picking the presumed front-runner?

I am sorry this was published before I got to finish! I was also going to cover the personal conduct of Guiliani, I will contact AC and see if I can get the rest added on. Thanks for the comments though!

I agree Pat is really off, but for Guiliani's personal moral conduct, not how he stands on those two 'straw man' issues. Robertson at least knows the constitution. Fred Thompson is a consistently independent thinker with an eye to what is in the public interest and is the 'right thing to do'. He's not the ardent self promoter and hypocrite some candidates are. I'd rather support him than Guiliani any day.

I so totally agree. I can't believe he is letting other issues take priority over the moral ones. He's really disappointed me.

Appartently Pat would rather see a bad Republican win than none at all. Right or wrong I don't think the votes are with ultra-conservatives.
