Paternalism and Political Agenda

Snidely Whiplash
Do reader's remember when George W. Bush was president? When Reagan and Bush the Elder were chief executive? Remember all the denigration from the political opposition that Republican's wanted to legislate every aspect of citizen's private lives? All the admonitions about Republican's and Conservative's NOT legislating what went on in one's bedroom? Sound familiar to anyone? How every action of conservatism was one of political motivation? Here's some factual food for thought.

In an article on Hot Air we find the headline "MSNBC VP: MSNBC Does Not Have A Political Agenda." Keep in mind that it is progressives who never cease to claim "Fox is the propaganda wing of the Republican Party, yet the Hot Air article highlights some of the following:

"Olbermann first mentioned Palin on his show July 1, 2008...Since then, he talked about the former governor of Alaska in a total of 320 separate segments during his former MSNBC show, according to data compiled by LexisNexis...

But if the attention Olbermann gave to the diminutive and perky hockey mom from Wasilla sounds excessive, think again. LexisNexis indicates that MSNBC's Chris Matthews has reported on her during a whopping 420 segments of his Hardball show since she burst onto the scene as McCain's running mate two months after Kristol's Countdown appearance." (my emphasis)

The VP then justified his network's actions by claiming she's a news maker, thus worthy of reporting on. If MSNBC merely reported on her and did not use her as a whipping boy I might give them their props, but as the evidence clearly shows, Palin is the conservative progressives most seek to sacrifice at their altar. She is the embodiment of everything they hate about we who do not agree. She's not going to accpet progressive premises unquestioned, thus to progressives she's real trouble and worthy of destruction.

If that weren't enough, what of the effort of progressives in trying to legislate nearly every private and traditional choice of citizens? Again recall the progressive mantra "Don't make your morals my laws." This was first directed at Reagan and the Moral Majority in the 1980's. Seems now progressives have forgotten all that concern they had for morals and laws because as we have seen for the last few years or so, a nonstop effort to legislate morality and personal choice is their chosen method of muddying the waters of paternalism and hopeful political agenda.

As Townhall reports with Doug Giles article"Hey Chris Matthews: I Like Big Guns and I Cannot Lie," when it comes to hypocrisy and political agenda pushing morality, progressives have it down to a science. Indeed they seem engaged in walking the tightrope of personal choice and wishful agenda. When these two entities meet progressive hypocrisy abounds. For example as Giles offers, "Can you say "target" anymore? It's so hard keeping up with what we can and cannot say, do and not do, eat and not eat. These control freaks are acting like the Taliban." I honestly believe the Taliban comparison is as accurate as any I've come across. Oh yeah, and don't dare light a cigarette, even in the privacy of your own home. Hell, they even object to the "vaping" of we who are using the smokeless cigarettes to quit, so . . . .

Progressive's have planted their flag firmly upon the concept that much of what more traditional Americans, myself one, believe about "live and let live" is in fact a selfish position born of a desire to do whatever we wish and if the nation, the economy, the environment, little bunnies - whatever - are harmed, well to Hell with them. Notice how the concepts of individual autonomy and liberty are under non-stop assault from progressivism. Progressive efforts at belittling the Founding principles are a 100 year old effort to disengage conservatives and the nation as a whole from the Constitution, principles of limited government and individual liberty.

The hypocrisy, clearly one of the bugaboo's that riles me no end, is rampant. But as Giles points out, in the wake of Arizona, progressives actually accept Rahm Emanuel's admonition "never let a good crisis go to waste." It's all politics and ideology all the time when it comes to progressives and whatever it is they are chattering about at the moment.

Uh, you neglected to post how many times Fox reported FAVORABLY on Palin. And Bush. Fox also claims they don't have a "political agenda." Fairness dictates this or your article is moot.

Progressive blabbermouths like Matthews and Maher tell you whom their afraid of by talking about them all the time. Palin was a target from day one.

I try to stay away from the liberal news stations because every day it seems to be the same complaining about conservatives.

I wonder how many death threats I'll get when it comes to public light that I worked for the Koch brothers in the 70s and early 80s? The news this morning is just chock full of wonderful little tidbits.
