Patience as a Mother

Ngarto Februana

my wife, thirteen years you have be a mother
for three of our cute kids
patience as the mother of my children
I drown in emotion

my wife, drops of your tears on the top of your patience
sweep over me in a sea of melancholy

for years we led a simple life
sometimes could not eat
increasingly excruciating debt
monthly salary was never left

forgive me, my wife
if I do not hunt new fields
we remain in this field
commendable seek sustenance
be thankful although a seed

forgive me, my wife
forgive me, my children
