Patience in Business Creates Success

Matthew Shively
In today's world of business we have seen turmoil, bankruptcy, and incredible stock losses due to the poor and slow growing U.S. economy. Small businesses are not the only ones having these issues, but also large companies that have been around for years. I have spoken to several business owners and a lot of them state it would probably just be easier to give the business up and move on to something new, too much stress. However, I am a firm believer in never quitting something worked so hard for. Then the question comes, "how do I just keep going when there doesn't seem to be any hope?"

This is definitely a question that only the business owner can answer for themselves, because they know themselves best under stress and pressure. However, I do have a great piece of advice that has helped me fight through the hard times as a small business owner and only lead to my success: patience.

Yes, patience is the key to a business creating success. But "how" you may ask? When you feel like there is no hope and that the ultimate result is to end everything you have worked hard to achieve, sit back, take a deep breath, organize your thoughts, and then get your mind back on track to bring your business back to success. It won't happen overnight, but with patience you will see your business begin to grow.

The recent recession is over and the economy is beginning to grow, which means that there is indeed hope. Yes, while you are maintaining your patience you may be strapped for time and money, but with loving support behind you and the patience you have attained you can easily keep doing business holding your head above water and allowing the economy and in turn your business succeed. Always look at the big picture and with long-term perception rather than looking at the now. The now will go away and tomorrow will be brighter.

I own a website business and I have had my share of financial struggles to keep the business alive. In fact, during the recent recession I literally had maybe one or two customers. This was devastating and ended up costing money out of my own pocket to keep the business alive, but with patience and the knowing of current economic growth my business picked back up and is more popular than ever before. Sometimes patience doesn't even cut it and we have to do what we have to do, but there is always that thought that if I had a little more patience and faith would I have had to quit my business. Remember patience is the key to business success.

You're exactly right Brian. It can be hard to attain, but the goal is always there to try and achieve.

Good advice, though it can be hard to exercise it as you pointed out.
