If you want to travel with your patriotic dessert, them place your cupcakes in one of those sheet cake pans with a lid. You can decorate them, place them in the pan, top off with a lid, and have an easy patriotic dessert that will travel well to the Fourth of July BBQ you are going to.
To Make an American Flag Cupcake Cake You Will Need:
24 Cup cakes
Blue icing
White icing
Vanilla tootsie rolls
Small star cookie cutters
Red Twisslers
The first thing you need to do is bake your 24 cupcakes. Use whatever cake mix you want to. Look for some cute red white and blue cupcake papers to carry on the patriotic theme of your Fourth of July cupcakes.
Now, arrange them in 4 rows of six. Of course you can make as many cupcakes as you would like or need to feed your guests.
Ice four of the cupcakes in blue icing. Now, ice the remaining American flag cupcakes in white.
Now, take a pair of scissors. Start cutting pieces of red Twisslers out to as long as your cupcakes are wide. You will need quite a few of these.
Now, take your vanilla tootsie rolls and roll them out flat with a rolling pin. Use the small star shaped cookie cutter to cut out star shapes. Simply press them out like cookie dough.
Go ahead and line your cupcakes up in those four rows of six on a platter. Make sure to have the four blue cupcakes in the top left.
Now, place the white stars you cut out on the blue cup cakes. Line them up in rows as best you can. Of course for a more whimsical American flag cupcake cake you can place the stars, as you would like.
Now, take your pieces of red Twisslers. Start to create lines running horizontally across your white cupcakes.
Make sure the lines match up from cupcake to cupcake. You want a cohesive look. Basically, treat the grouping of cupcakes as one large patriotic cake!
Now, place you American Flag cupcake cape in the center of your table as a patriotic centerpiece.
Your Fourth of July party guests can help themselves to yoru patriotic dessert, as they want!
