The talk in the media leading up to week 11, wasn't so much about the Jets, but about Bill Belichick's 4th-and-2 call the previous week. It was apparent that the Patriots locker room didn't share the same conversation. The defense that the media portrayed as disrespected, and insulted by there coach, came out with a vengeance.
The Patriot defense forced Mark Sanchez and the Jets to punt on their first possession and on their second possession, Patriot cornerback Leigh Bodden returned the first of his 3 interception for a touchdown to get the Patriots on the board. The Patriots insuing drive went 9 plays for 76 yards (62 by Wes Welker) and was capped by a Brady to Moss 4 yard touchdown pass. Giving the Patriots a 14-0 lead at the end of the 1st quarter. After the Patriots defense forced a 3 and out, the offense would march right down the field and score again on a Laurence Mauroney 2 yard touchdown run, giving the Patriots a 21-0 lead. The Patriots defense force the Jets to a third straight 3 and out, before a 10 play 50 yard drive which resulted in a Stepen Gostkowski field goal, putting the Patriots on top 24-0. After a 4th consecutive 3 and out for the Jets, the Patriots started a drive with just over 2 minutes to play in the first half. After a 3 and out the Chris Hansen punt was blocked by Eric Smith of the New York Jets and recovered by Brad Smith for the first Jets touchdown of the day.
The second half opened with the first and only sign of life for the Jets offense. A 12 play 80 yard drive capped with a 29 yard Mark Sanchez touchdown pass to Jerrico Cotchery. It would be the only points the Jets offence would muster. As the New england defense would hold the Jets offense to just 226 total yards. While intercepting Sanchez 4 times. (3 Bodden, 1 Meriweather)
Laurence Mauroney put the nail in the coffen with his second touch down of the game, a 1 yard run with 5 minutes remaining to give the patriots a 31-14 victory. The Patriots offense was lead by Wes Welker's 15 catches for 192 yards, and Tom Brady who passed for 310 yards and one touchdown.
