Don't give the Patriots motivation. Telling a team as talented as the Patriots they are going to lose is not smart. After having a couple of sub par performances against the Eagles and the Ravens, the Patriots already had to be focused for this game. Anthony Smith just added to their focus. The Patriots had the same look against the Steelers they had early in the season, right after their 'cheating' allegations. They had the look of a team that had something to prove. Even quarterback Tom Brady was getting nose to nose with other players and looked fired up. Lesson learned, don't give the Pats extra motivation.
This team bounces back from tough games. With their second straight tough game one had to wonder if the Patriots maybe had hit a rough part in their season. As rough as they could have, anyway. The Baltimore Ravens had the Patriots beat, and were it not for a timeout called by them, and a couple of favorable calls for New England, Baltimore would have handed them their first loss of the season. New England showed they could bounce back from a challenging game and play well in the next game.
The team is very good. This one is no secret, but I thought I would say it anyway. This is a darn good football team. The Steelers are a good team and the Patriots just ran right over them. With Brady at quarterback they can throw against anyone. With options like Moss and Stallworth they have the speed to run with any pair of cornerbacks. Furthermore their running game and defense are had bad either. This team is the best in football, no question. It appears the only team that will stop them from winning the Super Bowl, is the Patriots themselves.
A perfect season is very much a possibility. With remaining games against Miami, the Jets, and the Giants, Pittsburgh appears to be the last real threat of stopping this team during the regular season. They will have a 1st round bye in the playoffs. The only team with a legitimate chance of stopping them from getting to the Super Bowl, the Colts, lost to them earlier this season. Their probable opponent in that game, the Cowboys, were also beaten by the Pats this year. Unless they have a game where they just don't show up to play, or if another team shocks the world, this team appears poised to win it all this year, without a single loss!
