Paul Blart: Mall Cop drives a Segway, a black two-wheeled battery operated powered vehicle that can stand on its own. Kevin James should win an award just for the way he maneuvers this vehicle all over the mall and apparently drives back and forth to work also! I was truly amazed at the way he would turn the curves and make certain turns in and around the mall exceeding speeds of 20-30 mph while on his patrol. (These scenes did NOT look "fake" or special effects or even stunt persons). This was very impressive for film viewers in the theater.
This lovable and also comical family film seems to surround itself around this particular Segway vehicle(s), that all the mall security guards use during their rounds. The majority of the "Mall Guards" could care less about their jobs, but Paul Blart seems to take his job very seriously. Especially whenever he tries to stop a senior citizen driving a "Hoveround" to slow down and threatens to give him a warning citation for speeding! This elderly gray headed male senior thinks Paul Blart is a Joke! Paul finally jumps in front of his mobile wheelchair landing on his stomach and feet, but the senior NEVER slows down! This was just one of the FUNNY scenes during this movie.
Most people never seem to take Paul Blart: Mall Cop seriously, but yet deep down, he is a very warm, kindhearted and sensitive individual which reminds me of the late "John Candy" films. Simply because he seems to Love all human beings shown in front of the camera. Kevin James and John Candy similarities is often times uncanny? While I was viewing this hilarious film on the big screen theater. All the young people in the theater thoroughly "laughed" during the entire film. Most of them have probably never heard of John Candy?
As usual with any action/adventure comedy drama, this film has the bad guys. In this film called "Mall Cop" they have taken over the mall with their weapons and forced everyone to leave except the persons inside the mall bank. Security guard Paul Blart is inside the video arcade playing games while this "very little" violent event is taking place and does NOT hear or see what's going on inside the mall. (Which I thought was excellent for small children and all family members). Apparently, the "Bad Guys" are trying to steal 15 of the credit card store vendors numbers located within the mall and receive millions of dollars in the process.
After security guard Blart leaves the arcade, he then realizes that something is mysteriously going on inside the mall because its empty? and then suddenly receives a cell phone text message that AMY, (a young beautiful mall kiosk girl worker that he has been trying to go out with and get up the courage to ask out on a date), is being held hostage inside the mall bank. Blart somehow seems to elude these STUPID criminals all over the mall, jumping around and even at times doing comical acrobats while "Dodging Bullets!" These particular scenes had excellent photographic direction, which is one of the things that made this such a "Funny Movie!" because of his overweight size.
During this film, Kevin James (Paul Blart) shows a lot of facial emotional features, especially while he is sitting in front of the computer at his home, after searching through one of the internet dating services and receives an on-screen note that simply states "Not A Match?" Because his wife recently left him and his only child and he also seems to be a very lonely person at times. His daughter walks in and ask what is wrong? He does seem to show excellent true emotion during this scene with tears, fortunately filmmakers did NOT drag this dramatic part out too long.
One of the most comical parts shown during this film is whenever Paul Blart was hurt during his comical combat battle in the mall, and rolled up his arm sleeve. Film viewers were expecting a "gigantic slash in his arm" as portrayed in the original Rambo films, but was only a tiny scratch on his left arm! "He used his teeth to unroll a childs band-aid to cover this small injury during his one man war with these mall bad guys". This scene was really funny and somehow original!"
Film directors of the late overweight John Candy movies also seem to have the same talent for making Paul Blart have the same comical acrobatic overweight skills. Somehow, they have copied these same skills of viewing for Kevin James. Ironically, this movie comedy is produced by Adam Sandler's production company. Maybe Sandler was a huge fan of John Candy? Kevin James could possibly be the Next John Candy of overweight comical Hollywood actors? "Which I think is FANTASTIC!"
There is NOTHING wrong with an actor being overweight if they are healthy, whenever its used on film screen in a proper manner. I personally think it's great! John Candy knew that he was overweight during filming, but accepted the fact that filmmakers were also using his enormous size in comedy films, producers never made "Fun of this incredible and lovable actor" simply because he was so much fun to be around in his life during his personal life and even on screen! as told by John in certain interviews. "John Candy love to eat!" which eventually killed him regarding his heart as reported by the news during his death.
John Candy was probably one of the most Loved Hollywood film actors in history. Not necessarily because of his physical size, but he had the ability to make people laugh! Even if he had lost all the weight, he would have still been funny. Simply because he was just a "lovable guy" in his history on film screen and T.V. viewing of Saturday Night Live during the 1970's.
Kevin James (Paul Blart) seems to portray this same recollection in the history of film making because of his overweight and movie moves. "Keep up the good work Kevin James!" and remember the funny scenes during your career. This film called "Mall Cop" could be the beginning of an excellent overweight acting career! But please think about your health first? The late and loved John Candy always loved food, which it's obvious you feel the same way.
