Cue the speculation and quirky references to Beatles lyrics.
According to E! Online, both tabloids are reporting that McCartney has received the blessings of his four children to marry his latest love, New York native, Nancy Shevell. They also claimed that the New York State Supreme Court granted Shevell a divorce from husband Bruce Blakeman on December 9th, ending their 23-year union. No legal documents have surfaced so far and Shevell's attorney declined to comment on the status of the divorce.
McCartney's publicist has shot down the rumors. Paul Freundlich told E! Online, "[There's] no truth to it."
But who is McCartney's latest lady love?
Prior to her vicarious fame for dating a Beatle, 49-year-old Nancy Shevell has worked for her father's New Jersey-based New England Motor Freight Company for the past 25 years. Besides this, she has been a member of the board of New York State's Metropolitan Transportation Authority since 2001, a position she was appointed to by former New York Governor George Pataki.
Shevell first began seeing McCartney in November 2007 in the midst of the ex-Beatle's mess of a divorce from Heather Mills. Despite the fact that the divorce was highly publicized (all in all, the divorce cost McCartney nearly $50 million dollars), the two still found time to see each other. At the time McCartney and Shevell's relationship began, newspapers reported that Shevell was still married to Republican lawyer, Bruce A. Blakeman. However, Blakeman sent an e-mail to The New York Times saying,
"I am legally separated from Nancy. The separation is amicable and mutual."
Shevell and Blakeman have a 17-year-old son together.
Though it's only speculation, I have a hard time believing that McCartney would jump into yet another marriage so quickly. His ugly divorce from Heather Mills was settled less than a year ago in front of a veritable media hoopla.
Then again, he married Mills a mere four years after the death of the woman he called "the love of my life"-- his wife Linda. Less than two years later, McCartney was seeing former model, Heather Mills.
Who knows? But until then, McCartney's word to the public is to let it be.
You didn't think you'd get away without at least one Beatles lyric, did you?
