The 2010 NBA 3-point shootout is a contest designed to show who the best shooter from behind the arc is (out of those who were brave enough to join the competition). There were six participants again this year, which is disappointing, because in the past they had eight contestants and went through three rounds of shooting.

Daequan Cook was the defending champion of the competition, returning to defend his win from the 2009 NBA All-Star Game festivities. Stephen Curry is also a rookie in the NBA this season for the Golden State Warriors, and Paul Pierce asked to be in the competition this year to prove that he still "has it."

The way that the 3-point contest works, is that there are two rounds of timed shooting with the top three shooters from the first round advancing to the final round. Each shooter gets one minute to shoot five racks of balls located around the three point arc on one end of the floor. It is one point for the first five balls of each rack, and two points for the last 'bonus' ball in the rack.

The top three scores from the first round advanced to the final round to decide the winner of the 2010 NBA three point contest.
