Paula Abdul Back on TV as Host of Star Search?

Sources Say that Paula Abdul Will Revive Star Search This Summer

Paula Abdul is in talks to reincarnate the old show "Star Search" that once featured entertainers like Britney Spears. Although Abdul says not to believe it until we hear it from her, her name is already inked on Wikipedia.com's "Star Search" page.

Once upon a time, after leaving "American Idol", we heard that Paula Abdul would snatch a judging position on "So You Think You Can Dance" but that didn't pan out of Paula. Rumors also abound that the ex-Idol judge would be joining future ex-Idol judge Simon Cowell on the U.S. version of the hit U.K. show, "The X Factor". The program is scheduled to hit American TV on the Fox channel in the fall of 2011. Now we hear Abdul will be hosting and judging a new version of "Star Search".

According to EW.com's Michael Ausiello, sources have confirmed to him that "The ex-American Idol judge is finalizing a deal to headline an updated version of "Star Search", the great-granddaddy of all televised singing competitions, for ABC." Ausiello also says that ABC reps have refused to comment on the situation. "Star Search" is expected to appear this summer.

For those who don't remember "Star Search", it aired from 1983 to 1995 and again in 2002 to 2004. Ed McMahon hosted the first gig, Arsenio Hall the second time around and now Wikipedia.com already has Paula Abdul down as host from 2010 to present. The main categories for "Star Search" were dance, spokesmodel, comedy, vocal group, junior vocalist, male vocalist and female vocalist.

Abdul won Emmy Awards for "Outstanding Achievement in Choreography" twice: once in 1989 and again in 1990. She also won a Grammy for "Best Music Video - Short Form" for her single "Opposites Attract" from her debut album, "Forever Your Girl".

Lots of people love Abdul for her kind words and pleasing personality. It looks like she'll be back on TV before the end of 2011, even if it's on "The X Factor". Can she host both "Star Search" and "The X Factor"? Given her alleged health problems, she may have to double up on whatever was in that Coke cup during her stint on "American Idol", just to cope.

I used to love the old Star Search, and I wonder how it will do...especially with Paula hosting! Good read Brenda!

I wonder how that will work out. I liked her sometimes on AI, but at others she seemed totally out of it.
