Paula Abdul on American Idol - it was Good to See Her Back!

Paula Abdul announced she was leaving the show she helped create

Posted on the Jackson Magazine's Blog is a copy of the Twitter post that Paula Abdul made when her contract negotiations broke down.

"With sadness in my heart, I've decided not to return to IDOL. I'll miss nurturing all the new talent, but most of all being a part of a show that I helped from day 1 become an international phenomenon. What I want to say most, is how much I appreciate the undying support and enormous love that you have showered upon me. It truly has been breathtaking, especially over the past month. I do without any doubt have the BEST fans in the entire world and I love you all."

Having Paula on the show was interesting

When Paula Abdul was a judge on the American Idol show, you never knew what would come out of her mouth. Most of the time, what she said was kind and supportive, and even downright gushy sometimes. She was the Mamasox of the show, nurturing talent and even choreography.

Kara DioGuardi came on and worked with Paula

At first, you could see that Paula was a little put off having another woman on the show. She was used to being the glitter babe, but Kara held her own and eventually the crowd came to accept her educated opinion, as she was a performer, song writer and producer.

In fact in a recent interview with Kara on the TV Guide Show with Idol, she said that Paula actually pushed her and told her, c'mon, I know you. You are not always that nice! That helped Kara move on and say what she needed to say. (TV Guide Show 5/26/2010)

Paula Abdul's contract broke down and Ellen DeGeneres was selected as the new judge

Anytime a major player changes on a show, the producers probably hold their butt cheeks together and hope for the best. Will the audience go along with the change or will they abandon the ship?

This year, Idol still ranked as the number one television show although it had competition with the Olympics, Barack Obama and even Dancing with the Stars. Ellen DeGeners found a way to be upbeat and friendly, and fill the nurturing roll, without appearing to be a pushover or ill-informed. Her humor was delightful.

Simon Cowell is leaving but before he left, Paula Came Back

Last night on the American Idol Season 9 Grand Finale, Abdul came back as rumored, first in a clip, talking about how professional Simon was. There were various spoofs of some of Simon's "sensitive side".

We got to see that Simon was really in love with himself. Apparently off camera Simon is a dog lover, and a human aid supporter, and is rumored to be a knowledgeable and respected guy, and actually very nice.

When Paula was shown on stage, she "magically appeared" and radiated beauty and happiness. She greeted the audience, the guests, and even Ryan, who got a 45M contract deal with producers. But then, Paula got to Simon and that's when the show really started.

Paula Abdul sat on Simon's lap at one point

She called him "Sir" and talked about him being a teacher, but pushed back and said she wasn't always the student. At one point Simon referred to Paula as the "little-one".

They are clearly very friendly and it must have been awesome for Simon to have Paula back on the show one more time. It was suiting, as they were the ones that partly "birthed the show", (stealing a line from Ellen when she spoke of Lee's transformation).

I'm sure Paula is emotional about the show whether she is on it or not. And she said she learned from Simon, and I think he learned from her too. It was great to see her back there. I wonder if she has thought about creating a "school" for would be idols - I bet she would be great at something like that with her experiences.

I know I learn from the judges, particularly Simon. As a singer/ song-writer and performer, as well as a writer, I enjoy hearing the critiques and I try to apply what they say about somebody else, to me.

What an awesome grand finale. I bet the party afterwards was spectacular too.Don't forget to see the Idols when they make their Live Tour and locations in New England and other areas. Tryouts are slated to be in the next few weeks. Go to Americanidol.com for more.

I never liked her on the show. I used to watch AI, but when they admitted it didn't matter so much if contestants sang on key -- I ditched it. Whatever happened to on key?
