Paula Deen Hit with Ham: This is Exactly Why I Don't Cook
Paula Deen Hit with Projectile Ham at Atlanta Charity Event
Paula Deen is a chef on the Food Network. Deen is known for her down-home recipes. Although I love Paula Deen's recipes, I am afraid to eat them lest I gain 400 pounds. She cooks with lots of butter, starch, and all that delicious stuff. If you are looking for items to cook this Thanksgiving, I highly suggest flipping through her recipes on the Food Network Web site.
She was helping hand out hams in Atlanta with the Hosea Feed the Hungry charity. Someone threw a ham, hoping to get it in a storage bucket. However, the ham hit her square on the nose. Luckily, she's okay. All she has is a sore nose. She doesn't even have a busted lip.
Was Paula Deen mad about the ham throwing incident? Not at all. She kept her humor, and even said she "ran head on to a hog."
What can we learn from the ham throwing incident? For starters, if you are handing out heavy items such as frozen turkeys and hams for charity this Thanksgiving, you need to be careful not to throw the items. Frozen turkeys can be extremely heavy and can really hurt someone if they hit them.
Hams are very heavy and can do the same amount of damage as well. It would be extremely easy to break someone's nose or split someone's lip with a projectile bird (or ham). You would also have to throw away the bird or ham if blood even got on the packaging.
Secondly, you need to be careful not to drop a turkey. Wear steel toed boots if you are afraid of dropping frozen turkeys on your feet, because that can really hurt.
Although the incident like the "Paula Deen hit with ham" situation are rare, they do happen and can be quite serious.
Paula and the ham are both doing okay. Luckily, the incident was not a serious one. However embarrassing it may have been for Ms. Deen, I hope that the incident spawns an interest in the chef's recipes, especially in light of Thanksgiving.
This Thanksgiving and Christmas, please be careful with your turkeys and hams. As Paula Deen can attest, they can hurt you if they are thrown in your direction - or even dropped.

Post a CommentI bought 2 Smithfield ham halves for Christmas because you advertised how wonderful they were...........I was so disappointed with both hams....they were very fatty and grissly - I always serve spiral hams to my family at Christmas, but will go back to buying Walmart brand in the future.

Ms. Paula that was very unfortunate what happened to you. You are a real TROOPER. You made a joke of it. I guess that is why I love to watch your shows. You are real......

paula i can only imagen how you feel . you should try ham salad .you will find it much safer .i myself eat it everyday & have not been hurt yet .
I know how you feel Paula, I had a ham incident myself one time. It was ugly. I'll never forget it for the rest of my life and I'm sure you won't either.
Glad Paula was fine...love her show and bright happy personality, Glad to hear she was out a charity event.
If you pay attention, you can clearly see that the ham came nowhere NEAR her face, AT ALL. Totally for publicity's sake, this fabrication.
