Paula Deen to Serve Up Southern Favorites at Harrah's Cherokee Casino & Hotel

What could be better for a Southern foodie than to find out that the Queen of Southern Cooking plans to open a restaurant literally 10 miles from her home? That's right. Nothing! It was announced earlier this week that Paula Deen would be opening a restaurant in the newly expanded Harrah's Cherokee Casino & Hotel in late 2010. This isn't like her Savannah restaurant or even the restaurant she opened at the Harrah's in Tunica, which both feature a buffet. Instead, guests will be able to order off a menu.

If that weren't enough, Harrah's also plans to open an 1,800 square-foot retail store featuring Paula Deen merchandise. After guests have enjoyed their meal, they can stroll on over and purchase Paula Deen cookware, spices, cookbooks and much more.

Harrah's Cherokee Casino & Hotel is currently undergoing a huge three year expansion project that will cost over $633 million. Paula Deen's Kitchen will be the first new restaurant to open in late 2010, but guests can also look forward to additional restaurants, a spa, more retail outlets and even a digital poker room, which are all scheduled to be completed in 2012.
