Paula White: You're All That- Not!

A Critique on You're All That

Paula White: You're All That- Not!

It sounds great at first. You were fearfully and wonderfully made, therefore, you're all that and a bag of chips. It's easy to find your place in life by confirming your destiny with the Word of God. Once you find out that you were created with a purpose, all the pieces fall into place, and you are instantly transformed into an over-comer. You're the head and not the tail, your blessed and not cursed, in fact, you're all that and a bag of chips.

Really, is that what the Bible says? Does the Bible ever truly say that we are going to become, "All That"? Maybe being, "All that," is a subjective term, like beauty- maybe it is in the eye of the beholder. However, I think the Bible is very clear that we are not "all that". In fact, apart from Christ, we can do nothing. The Bible says that our righteousness is as filthy rags. The truth is that we were not born with a divine nature; we are born with a sinful nature. Yes, we are fearfully and wonderfully made, because the very hands of God created us; we are his handiwork. However, we are fallen, we are cursed, and left in our natural state, we will die and ultimately spend eternity in hell. You do not need to be saved, because you were born to be a great person and somewhere along the line, influences in your life messed that up. You need to be saved because you were born a sinner, in a fallen state, and without being saved, you will die in your sins and spend eternity separated from God.

We are not all that! We are sinners at the mercy of a God who loves us unconditionally and died to save our souls from eternal hell, wrath, and damnation. The only thing that spares us from that impending doom and reality is the Mercy and Grace of the Living God, poured out in the shed blood of Jesus Christ. In fact, the one who is All That is Jesus Christ. Not me, not you, not Paula White, not any minister that has come before us or will come after us. No angel, no demon, no celebrity, no movie star, not Donald Trump, not President Bush, not Hillary Clinton- no one is immune. We are all sinners in the hands of an angry God, until we accept the blood of Jesus Christ who covers our sins. And after that, guess what? We still aren't "All That and a bag of chips". To believe that we have "arrived" is a gross misconception of salvation.

We do not come to Christ for psychology. We do not become a member of the body of Christ to heal past emotional wounds. Believe me, I know. I have numerous. I was abandoned as a baby, I am bi-racial, I never met my real father, I was molested as a child, I was a teen runaway, I have been kidnapped, I have been raped, I was pregnant at 15, I had my first child at 16, I had an abortion at 18, I have been there, done that, and did it again out of stupidity. But you know what, none of those issues are the reason that I found Christ. I do not need to be saved by a super anointed shrink.
I need to be saved because I was born in sin, in a fallen human state, just like everyone else. I do not need to focus or meditate on the things that I have been through for one simple reason, I am Born Again.

I am not "All That". I do not need to try to be "All That". Jesus is All That. Jesus is All That I need, all I have to do is surrender to Him and let HIS light shine in me, through me, and renew my mind.

I do not have to focus on achieving my own success, because my success is not separate from Christ. My success in life is hidden in Him. I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life that I now live in my flesh, I live by faith in Jesus Christ, the very Son of God, who loved me and died for me. I don't know about you, but I know for me, that when I was born again, what I thought was "All That about Charisse" was crucified on the cross with Jesus Christ. You know what else, every day I have to crucify my false thinking that "Charisse is All That". Charisse is nothing without the blood, mercy, grace, and power of Jesus Christ.

I agree with the author. We have been forgiven of sins, God loved us enough but that does not qualify us to walk around with an ungodly prideful attitude of being 'ALL THAT' but rather we should humbly recognise that but for the LOVE OF GOD we would be headed for the pits of hell.Thank you for this article

I think it is very sad how the writer describes us as in a fallen state..What happend to Christ dying for those very sins! You make a mockery of the cross when you denounce that christ dying for us was not enough, that somehow we are still in a fallen state, and there fore NOT good enough. Yes we all sin BUT we are expected to repent of the sins that we as humans continue to make, we are supposed to embrace Christ like qualities, we are supposed to want all that is good and worthy. If we truly follow Christ are sins are washed away if we repent, for he said, if ye repent i will bury them in sand..they will be forgotten. I am sorry but i do think I am all that, he made me, he loves me, i am his child, and that in itself is something to embrace and feel total joy in. I thank the Lord every day for all that he has given me , the good , the bad and the ugly..and i embrace it all, come what may, because with him in my life it is all that AND A BAG OF CHIPS.

I have to say I read the book and saw it totally differently than this person. I thought it was a great book full of hope. And, yes, I know my Bible. Been going to church for almost 30 years and reading my Bible just about every day since then. So, I guess what I should say is that I see where this writer is coming from but believe they took everything out of text.

We need to pray for her because that road is a clear road to destruction and we should not want to see any of us go there. I understand because her past and what has happened to her she is a product of. Its a constant battle we must fight against and if and when she falls its gonna hurt like you know what. I guess after the consequences it brings one might want to reconsider the outcome of the result of messin with the flesh and that will be my series to talk about. PRAY PRAY PRAY

When I would watch Paula White on TV I could tell that she was struggling with lust. One could see it in her eyes and the way she was flaunting her body on national TV. The Bible says we should flee from lust.
I know God has a great plan for all of our lives and we need to be faithful to Him and His word. I don't think the Lord is pleased with this divorce. How can leaders of our community lead when there is no order in their own lives ? We are to lead to Jesus.
My prayers are with you, I hope you both repent and live the life the Lord has for you.

I've read that you have been in contact with the attorneys in this case to give your account. I agree that you should take part in the overall correction process. What you will experience in this process is going to reassure you that God is aways in control and that no matter what, His will as we see in scripture does come to pass. The church as a whole will find some relief from their many doubts as to God's sovereignty and justice. Go with your heart full of restorative justice and reconciliation to prove your Christian credibility. Remember, wise as a serpant, gentle as a dove.

I am deeply sorrowful for the things you've been through and that you've been holding on to them for so many years. SEC, I hope you continued to press into God for your destiny. This is a hard thing to do when we find ourselves confused and not able to trust ourselves or others. After all this time you are finally seeing some vindication for what happened. This is freeing in a powerful way. I pray that you are released in every part of your being to fully engage in the sovereign will of God. I pray that every stumbling block be removed and that you will enjoy your liberty in Christ. Blessings!!
