Paying Down High Debt When You Only Get One Paycheck

Lora
This is how me and my husband are dealing with high debt in our lives. We have so much debt it is not funny.

We have two car payments that equal up to almost $700.00 a month. We have a for wheeler payment that is $168.00 a month. We have car insurance which is $ 94.00 a month. We have a credit card payment of $94.00 a month. The list just goes on and on.

It is very hard to pay the bills a month because my husband is the only one working and I cannot find a job anywhere. I have looked all over at every place in our area and still nobody is hiring. We live pay check by pay check every month we are lucky if we can afford groceries a month.

We are so tired of only having one income for the entire family. The struggle with high debt is very stressful. Our relationship is not what it should be because we wonder every day how we are going to pay all the bills. I get so frustrated with everything every month that I get depressed over it and we argue so much.

My husband is one of them husband's that whatever he finds he wants and it is very hard to tell him we have no money because he is the only one working and he makes all the money and I feel like i am telling him what to do with the money he makes. Which I am because all the money he makes has to go for bills and nothing else.

Yes during income tax time we feel like we are rich because we get so much back because of my brother being under 18 years of age. Still it is gone before we get it because of how many bills we have a month.

Life is not what it is always cracked up to be. I always tell my little brother that because when you are living at home it is so much easier because you do not have any problems other than girl friends or boy friends.

When you get out on your own is when it gets really hard. I try to pound that into his head before he gets out on his own because if not he will do the same stupid mistakes that we have done. If anybody out there is going through the same thing we are going through teach you children that it is harder to do it on your own when you get out on your own. Nobody will help you either.

The way me and my husband set a budget for our income is when income tax comes in we set aside an amount to help pay down some of the bills.

Another way we budget our money is when the bills are due we pay them first no questions asked. Then whatever we have left over we try to save for the next month after that.

If we have enough money to do this we try to pay a double payment on one bill so we do not have it the next month and the money we do not use for that bill goes in our savings account for the next month.

We shop for groceries only when we have enough money to do so. My grandparents are big help when it comes to food for our house because we live in their yard and they always make sure we have enough to eat.

We go grocery shopping whenever my husband gets a good bonus check for the month and then we only buy the food we really need. No junk food or anything just meals for the days.

This is how me and my husband's budget has worked out for us so far. Hopefully you readers can take some time to read this and hopefully it will help you out too.
