I recently came across PB2 Peanut Butter while perusing one of my favorite foodie websites. The description of the product intrigued me and made me think of the futuristic shows I loved when I was younger. The characters would place an odd looking pellet in the "magic" microwave, push the button, and viola a complete and balanced meal popped out. Hey, what can I say, my imagination does run wild.
The reason for these thoughts is the form in which PB2 Peanut Butter is presented to the consumer. PB2 Peanut Butter is a powder that, when reconstituted with liquid, becomes the creamy peanut butter that we know and love.
This powdered form offers several benefits to many different types of people. For campers, hikers, and those outdoorsy types, PB2 Peanut Butter is easy to transport in small and large quantities, keeping it dry until it's needed. For those that are concerned about the traditional high fat content, the process used to create PB2; peanuts that are slow roasted and pressed to remove fat, creates a product that is low in fat and calories, while maintaining a great amount of fiber and protein.

My favorite benefit of PB2 Peanut Butter, though, is its versatility in recipes. You can certainly take the more traditional route of reconstituting the powder with water and using the creamy butter as a spread, but there are many other innovative options. Why not use your favorite jam, jelly or preserve, mixing it with PB2 Peanut Butter, to create a peanut butter and jelly delight all in one; spread on bread, crackers, or pita. You can also mix the powder with cream cheese to create a tasty dip for sliced apples. Making a smoothie or shake? Add a little PB2 Peanut Butter powder to add a peanut punch. Mix with chocolate sauce to create a new topping for ice cream. The possibilities are endless.
An important final element to note is that the producer of PB2 Peanut Butter, Bell Plantation, was originally created as an argricultural research company. The goal was to create methods to make good use of a 1.2 billion pound peanut surplus. The ultimate drive for this project was a desire to help farmers, facing extreme need and cutthroat international competition, strive and thrive with more and better ways to sell their crops. The researchers at Bell Plantation have also developed other products, including peanut oils and peanut flours, and continue to search for viable new uses for the peanut.
PB2 Peanut Butter is only available online at the Bell Plantation website. Visit www.bellplantation.com to learn more about the company and its products. While your there, pick up a jar of PB2 Peanut Butter, or two, or maybe even three.
