PBS' Super Why Helps Kids Learn

Katherine A
If you are like almost every family in America, you have children who want to watch TV. We often forget about the ever-so-popular station which has brought all of us parents our cartoons in the past. PBS has brought us programs such as Sesame Street, Mr. Rogers, and the ever so popular Clifford.

Super Why is a new show that PBS has brought to us. This show is amazing as it captures the children's attention while teaching them letters and spelling. Super Why has four characters whom are the Super Readers. Wyatt, Pig, Red Riding Hood, and Princess P. These characters help solve their problems by looking in books to find the answers. They find super letters and put them in the Super Duper Computer to get the Super Story Answer.

The characters transform into super hero-like characters (i.e. Super Why, with the power to read, Alpha Pig with Alphabet power, Wonder Red with word power, and Princess Presto with spelling power). These "Super Readers" capture children's imagination as they fly into the books to help read and look for the super letters to help solve their problem.

As this program is very informative and very educational, the children do not watch it because they have to. They are watching because they want to. It truly feels as if your children are watching a cartoon just for the entertainment .

Be sure to check your local listings for the PBS Station near you . And you will soon find out why Super Why is on top of every parents list.
