"A Vampyre Story" tries to inject a sense of humor into the game and its characters but is not quite effective. Some characters in the game were created as a parody of some famous person but fail to be recognizable at all. The character had to give little bits of clues in order for me to have a hint of who he is trying to make fun of, which then kills the joke. A joke is never funny when it has to be explained to you. The game contains too many moments where the scenes that were supposed to be funny had to be somewhat explained. It just ruins everything for the one playing the game. It would have been funny if the character did not have to explain the joke.

The adventures in "A Vampyre Story" are made up of tasks and puzzles. As you go along the adventures you acquire items. When playing this game, it is important to explore all your options because you will encounter things that you think might not talk but actually do.

The action in this game is easily done by holding down the mouse button and executing the actions like talking, examining, flying and other maneuvers. The moves were fine but the inventory system is a little faulty. You also have to watch where you right click your mouse button because it is the same one used to move directly to the next screen. It may be useful in some parts of the game but can be very annoying when you are just trying to grab an item.

The default game controls of "A Vampyre Story" appear like they have not been well thought of. When you open the coffin menu, you can only exit by dragging an object or clicking out of the menu found on the side of the screen. This may take a little getting used to for gamers who are used to game controls that are a little less complicated. Another problem that I had with this game's controls is that I had to press the space bar to increase the speed of my movement or to skip a dialogue. This control could have been done by just double clicking the mouse. It can be a little too tiring if you had to constantly press the space bar just so that you can move quicker. A great game should only involve the use of one hand.

One thing to remember about the inventory system of "A Vampyre Story" is that you can only take along small items. The big items stay mounted on the wall until you need them where the character Mona uses her powers to fly back to the location of the item.

One great thing about "A Vampyre Story" is the way the characters were created. They appear spooky and cartoony but at the same time very visually appealing. The music interjected throughout the game is also well-selected. Both the graphics and audio of the game are of good quality. The freaky characters and scenarios of the game may not blend with everyone's taste but this game may be worth a try for those curious gamers out there.
