Peach Kuchen: An Easy and Fast Recipe

Create a Tasty Kuchen Quickly When You Begin with a Cake Mix and Fresh Peaches

Mary Martin
This quick variation on peach kuchen is delicious. Fresh peaches give it a rich wholesome taste. Mature, ripe peaches assure the best flavor but even the less ripe fruit will taste great too.

Ingredients:

1 two layer white cake mix
½ cup butter
4 to 6 medium peaches, peeled and sliced
2 teaspoons brown sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 cup sour cream
1 egg, slightly beaten

Directions:

Cut the butter into the cake mix until crumbly. Pour the cake mix crumb mixture into a 9X13 inch baking pan. Pat very lightly just to settle the crumb mixture. Bake at 350 degrees for 12 minutes. Remove the pan from the oven allow to cool slightly. Combine the peach slices, brown sugar and cinnamon in a bowl and stir to coat. Arrange the peach slices over the crust. Mix the sour cream and egg. Pour the mixture over the top of the peaches and return to the 350 degree oven; bake for 10 to 15 minutes, just till set.

Allow to cool.

Yield: 10 to 12 servings.

Variations:

1. Sprinkle the peaches with fresh blueberries, blackberries or raspberries before pouring the sour cream mixture over the mixture. Follow the directions above.

2. In the winter you may use canned peaches. Just drain a large can of sliced peaches and substitute in the recipe for the fresh peaches.

3. Use a spice cake mix instead of a white cake mix.

4. Use a gingerbread mix instead of a cake mix.

5. Use apples or pears instead of peaches.
