2 cups powdered sugar
1 cup peanut butter
3/4 cup gram cracker crumbs
1/2 cup soft butter or margarine
1 bag of chocolate chips
1/2 a brick of paraffin wax
In large bowl:
1. Combine the following two dry ingredients, powder sugar, and gram cracker crumbs.
2. Mix well. Once mixed well, go to step three.
3. Combine the following two ingredients, butter or margarine, and peanut butter.
4. Mix until well blended.Line cookie sheets with wax paper, or spray with nonstick spray of choice. Roll the batter into 3/4 inch balls.
Place balls on cookie sheets spaced at least and inch apart. Place cookie sheets in the freezer for one hour. If you choose, the batter can sit in the freezer over night. If you choose to freeze the batter over night, it might be a good ideal to cover the tops of your cookie sheets with tin foil or a lid of some sort.
When you are ready to dip your peanut butter balls, melt your bag of chocolate chips, along with your wax bar in a pan over medium heat. Do not heat up on high, the chocolate will burn on the bottom of the pan. Using a tool, dip the peanut butter balls into the chocolate and place on cookie sheet lined with wax paper. To help aid you in dipping your peanut butter balls, use a spoon or long tooth picks. Do not stick your fingers directly into the chocolate, it is hot and your fingers will get burned.
Is the wax necessary? Yes, the wax is needed. The wax is what helps the chocolate to harden around your peanut butter balls with that shine that it will have. Have you ever gone out for ice-cream and watched them dip your cone into chocolate? Did you notice how the chocolate took shape of your cone and with a gloss finish?
