How to Design Fashion Pearl Jewelry

ANNE RUSH
Pearls are a classic fashion jewelry category. Right now it is also one of the hottest trending fashion jewelry looks out there. Brands like Chanel, and stores like Forever 21 are showing strands of pearls. When a material can be found at the high and low retail levels then you can be sure it is a strong message to take part in.

Believe it or not the cabochon pearl button earring has emerged as a strong silhouette for spring. This vintage, as well as 1980's staple can be seen in the pages of Vogue magazine at super bold sizes. If you do a bit of shopping at Forever 21 you can see this look interpreted with pretty bezels, black epoxy, clip ear styles.

Pale pink and pale gray pearls are also on the rise. These soft colors compliment the muted spring fashion apparel colors that are so predominant this season. We are seeing significant use of ribbon and color cords being used mixed with pearls. Ribbons woven in between pearls, or used as bow tied closures at the back of simple pearl strands are two interpretations that are trending.

Layered pearls in various sizes mixed with lengths of chain is a dramatic way that fashion pearl is being designed. The use of asymmetrically placed floral 'brooches' on these layered necks is also a key look. Creating these floral brooches out of pear shaped pearls keeps the look more modern.

Pearls are also being used mixed with leather and mesh for a more casual feeling. Baroque and freshwater shapes help fashion pearls look great with denim.

Manipulations that use shaky bunches of pearls is a fun and fabulous way to create a fashion look with pearls. Hoop earrings with the same kind of movement look fresh as well.

Updates of the best selling 'illusion' style necklace, or "tin-cup' necklace can be accomplished by mixing shapes and materials of pearls, as well as by using different kinds of chains in between the pearls.

Finally adding charms to pearl bracelets and mixed into strands as its been done at Coco Chanel is a great way to create irresistible fashion pearl jewelry.
