Pedophiles - Punishment that Fits the CRIME

When you combine a sex offender with a child abuser you end up with a pedophile and there are really only two options for convicted pedophiles life in prison without parole or the death penalty. As the United States Supreme Court has decided that an adult who sexually abuses/rapes/destroys a child cannot be put to death here in America we only have one option life in prison without parole.

The facts in the case decided by the Supreme Court which determined that an adult could NOT be put to death for the rape of a child were as followed. A young girl (I believe between eight and ten) was raped by her stepfather. The rape was so violent that she needed a number of operations to repair her body, it will take a lifetime to repair her mind. There was physical evidence that the stepfather raped her and I do not believe there was any question of guilt. However the United States Supreme Court in their infinite wisdom decided that the death penalty in this case was cruel and unusual punishment. I was personally disgusted by the decision.

This is the same court that decided that pictures of youth over the age of eighteen that have been digitally altered to make these youths look like children including prepubescent girls and boys was an activity that was protected under the the First Amendment. If you want to be totally and completely disgusted with humanity you can do a search and find these pictures on the internet - all it takes is one goggle search - it is DISGRACEFUL and while President Bush signed new law into effect in 2004 that attempts to ban virtual child pornography the reality is that it is still out there and VERY EASILY accessible. There are also a number of perverts who run sites that provide "information" to other perverts and sexually deviants with information about the best places to find and look at little girls. This is not considered a crime and there is nothing anyone can do to shut down the sites.

As someone who has worked as an advocate for children for the past thirteen years I have seen the devastation and destruction that is left in the paths of pedophiles. The destruction includes victims who turn into perpetrators continuing the cycle, drug abuse, alcohol abuse, mental health issues, suicides, rage, and the list goes on. Additionally while there are doctors out there who say there are programs and procedures that will rehabilitate a pedophile this is NOT TRUE. A true pedophile is aroused by children and they DO NOT GET BETTER and they go out and they do it OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN and we - YES US - keep letting them out.

Think of all of the cases you can over the past four years that have involved men raping and abducting and killing little girls. Now think how many of them had a previous conviction for sexual assault and/or sexual assault on a child. That is correct, most if not all.

I have true sympathy for someone who was abused and neglected but my sympathy does NOT extend to someone who was abused and neglected and/or sexually assaulted who goes forward and commits the crimes that were committed against them. To often in our world we make excuses for bad behavior it is time to say enough. Does this mean that individuals who were victimized as children may go to jail for the rest of their lives - maybe - is this a price I am willing to pay to prevent further acts of abuse and to try and stop the cycle? Absolutely - with no hesitation. At some point an adult has to take responsibility for his or her actions. Sexually assaulting a child is an action. The reality is that it takes planning. It is a choice.

Each and everyone of us has a moral responsibility to protect the children in our live and in our community. These children WILL NOT be protected if pedophiles are allowed out into the community. It is time to stand and tell our Local, State and Federal Representatives that we want tougher laws. That actually we only want ONE law and that is if a person is convicted beyond a reasonable doubt of sexually assaulting/molesting/raping a child the game is over. You go to jail and you never get out. Many will believe that my opinions are barbaric I disagree. Others will argue that by not allowing parole we will encourage a sexual offender to kill his victim instead of just molesting him or her. Once again I disagree. Pedophiles are cowards and bullies, ultimately they care about no one besides themselves. We will not make them kill nor will we prevent them from killing. All we can do is when we find one we make sure he or she NEVER DOES IT AGAIN.

To those who say fondling a young girl does not deserve the same punishment as raping a young girl I am here to tell you that you are wrong and the reason you are wrong is that at some point the fondling will become rape.
