I bought the Peek Mobile E-Mail Device from Target for $15. I'm a bit leery when it comes to buying electronics for less than $40. I wasn't expected a great experience with this gadget but hey I tried it anyway.
Before I gave it to my daughter I tried it out myself to see if I wanted to return it to the store or go ahead and let my daughter have it. There were things I actually liked about the Peek Mobile E-Mail Device and only a few things I didn't like about it.
What I liked about the Peek Mobile E-Mail Device
The Peek Mobile E-Mail Device is actually a nice looking mobile device. it's a bit bulky but it's light weight and has a simple style. That's what I appreciated the most was the simplicity of this Mobile device.
Another thing that I liked about the Peek Mobile E-mail Device is the scroll navigation. It's pretty simple to use and it took me about ten minutes to learn how it fully operated. It includes nationwide coverage all over the Us which was perfect for my daughter.
It also comes with built in speakers, it's wireless and it has a neat address book. It has 8mb of memory which is a lot and way more than enough for my daughter.
What I didn't like about the Peek Mobile E-Mail Device?
There were a few things I didn't like about the Peek Mobile E-mail Device but the main thing I didn't like was the fact that you had to pay for your service. I figured that was a waste of money considering the fact that my daughter can check her mail either at school or at home.
Another thing I didn't like about the Peek Mobile E-Mail Device was that the browser itself is so slow and considering the fact that the operating system is peekux, It's expected. I've never had any experience with Peekux so when I first started using it I got frustrated. Loading time is far from what I'm used to and when checking email, who wants to wait minutes just for your browser to load your email account?
My conclusion?
The Peek Mobile E-Mail Device is only $15 so you can't expect for it to operate like a high tech PDA of some type. But I think that if it's for a teenager or even maybe a college student, it might just work. So far my daughter likes it so I guess that's all that matters.
