Pelham Shoe Store - Repair Review

When I needed a pair of shoes re-heeled after a bad experience at a Newbury street shoe repair shop, a friend recommended the Pelham Shoe Store in Newton Center. She has been going there for years, just as all Pelham customers have. Once you get your shoes or luggage repaired here once, you will never want to try somewhere else.

I don't often buy expensive shoes but I do like them to look and feel expensive, and I like them to last. I am also very picky when it comes to someone re-heeling my shoes. To be honest, before I started going to the Pelham Shoe Store, I didn't know that a shoe repairman could do much more to save shoes than re-heeling them. I've since discovered that the owner at Pelham Shoe Store can fix shoes with all manner of problems: those that don't quite fit, those that need to be winterized, re-heeled, re-soled etc. The owner of Pelham will resurrect all the shoes in the back of your closet that you've been wanting to throw out for years and he repairs are durable and long-lasting.

I had a number of criteria in mind when trying out the Pelham Shoe Store. I wanted a place with attention to detail, a commitment to high quality and a reasonable price. I was not disappointed on all three counts; in fact, Pelham exceeded my expectations every time. This family-owned business has a very loyal clientele for good reason. Every time I have dropped off my shoes, the owner has always given good advice on how to upkeep them; for some shoes that seemed like "lost causes" he always thinks very creatively on how to fix them. He mentioned that he receives about 600-700 shoes a week - it is evident that he is very hard working.

Prices here are very reasonable and are based on the damage to the shoe. I recently brought in a pair of boots whose heels were completely worn down to the point where someone may have confused them for flats. They were so bad that I would have never considered taking them to any shoe repair store; that is, until I started going to the Pelham Shoe Store. The owner of course shook his head at my carelessness and disrespect for the shoes but as I expected, he delivered a shoe that looked like new.

In short, I would highly recommend the Pelham Shoe Store as an ideal place to take your shoes and luggage for repairs especially if you have a real lost cause on your hands. The turnaround for most shoes is one week. They will give you a pink slip with your price and date when you drop off your shoes. Make sure you remember to bring your pink slip in when you pick up your shoes - this is the only way they can track them and locate them quickly.
